Samsung Galaxy S III Coming in April?

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S II just beat out Apple’s iPhone 4S for smartphone of the year at this year’s Mobile World Congress and it would appear that its successor will be touching down very soon. According to a report from ZDNet Korea,  Samsung may be gearing up  to announce the Samsung Galaxy S III during an event this month with a release date scheduled for April.

This would not be the first time that we’ve heard April pegged as the Galaxy S II release date.

Earlier this month, April was tossed into the hat after it became apparent that Sammy would not launch the phone at MWC 2012. The company then confirmed that it would be announcing the highly anticipated device during a separate event slated to take place during the first half of 2012.

Samsung Galaxy S III Launching Soon?

We had speculated that Samsung might be launching the Galaxy S III this summer in an effort to tie the phone’s launch into a massive marketing campaign that will take place during the Olympic Games in London.

Seems those ads will be for the Galaxy S III, but the phone will apparently launch before the start of the Games.

For its part, the phone is rumored to be an absolute beast.

Whispers have the device launching with a 4.8″ Super AMOLED HD Plus display that may be able to obtain full 1080p. Other features include a quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, possibly clocked at 1.5GHz, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 8MP rear camera, a ceramic case, and 4G LTE capabilities.

It’s shaping up to be a massive launch, not surprising considering the success of the Galaxy S II, and it’s one that may come sooner then expected.
