Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Update Starts Rolling Out

Published

on

After many leaks, the official Samsung Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out has begun today.

Samsung Galaxy S III owners in Poland who are using the unbranded version of the Galaxy S III are now able to pull the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update through Samsung Kies. It is not, as far as we know, available Over-the-Air.

The roll out in Poland is of course only the start. Those who live in other parts of Europe, and who possess an unlocked version of the Galaxy S III should see their Jelly Bean update roll out in the not-so-distant future, assuming the update in Poland goes according to plan.

The Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S III has begun to roll out.

This marks the beginning of the Galaxy S III Jelly Bean update and we expect the software will take months to hit all of the Galaxy S III devices around the world. At least Samsung got a head start though as the company originally promised the software in October and we’re currently still in the month of September.

Those in the United States with a Galaxy S III should not expect as quick of a turnaround. A roll out in the United States in October at this point would be a miracle. Still, anything is possible.

Earlier today, Samsung confirmed the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for a host of other devices including the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, and more. It did not, however, provide timelines for those devices which means that owners are still in the dark about when to expect the software to arrive.

Like the Galaxy S III, Jelly Bean updates for those devices likely won’t roll out until after the unlocked models in Europe and elsewhere get their upgrades and probably not until carriers around the world push out Jelly Bean for their devices.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a major upgrade over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and it brings many new features and improvements to the table including an improved UI, better notifications, widgets that automatically resize, more Camera app options, and more.
