Samsung Galaxy S III Not Launching at MWC in February?

Published

on

According to reports from both The Verge and BestBoyZ, Samsung will not be launching the Galaxy S III at the Mobile World Congress as was rumored yesterday. The launch, which had originally been planned for MWC, has instead been delayed until an undetermined date. However, those close to the situation say that the device will be out before the summer arrives.

So, why the delay?

It appears that Samsung didn’t want a repeat of last year’s Galaxy S II launch where the device saw a large gap between releases in the United States and in the rest of the world. For those that are unfamiliar with that launch, the device launched in the U.S. months after it arrived, well, just about everywhere else.

Samsung decided to play it smart and apparently has decided to get the deals with U.S. carriers wrapped up or at least close, before dropping the Galaxy S III announcement upon the world.

Galaxy S II

The Galaxy S II likely won't see its successor launch at MWC.

What’s still unclear though is what the Galaxy S III is exactly. The previous rumor had it having a quad-core processor, HD screen and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and fortunately, none of that was disputed today so we still have that to hold on to.

Sammy will still be at the Mobile World Congress, which kicks off next month in Barcelona, and it will likely be announcing something new. It just don’t be the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Be patient, it’ll get here.

On the bright side, this is much better scenario then having to watching it launch everywhere but in the U.S.
