Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Spotted Again

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has again been spotted ahead of its roll out, a roll out that is supposed to be taking place sometime during the month of October.

Earlier this year, it looked like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 would be getting updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Note 2’s first major update and the Galaxy S3’s first major Android update since last September. However, rumors suggested that Samsung canned the updates due to issues it was having and instead, was pushing on toward Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung still hasn’t confirmed that this is the case but the company did drop a hint, saying that the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be getting an update in October that will help them to connect with the Galaxy Gear accessory that goes on sale in just a few days. Samsung did not explicitly say Android 4.3, but given that it features Bluetooth Low Energy, it’s clear that Android 4.3 will be the update.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is likely in October.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is likely in October.

That notion has been backed up by several leaks that have depicted the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in the wild. We’ve seen both the international and AT&T Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 updates lurking and today, thanks to AndroidSaS, we have another look at the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update, or at least what appears to be the Android 4.3 update, in the wild.

The photo is blurry but it clearly shows Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running on a device that looks a lot like the Galaxy S3. The model number appears to be GT-I9300 which is indeed a Galaxy S3 variant.

It appears that the software is still in testing, something that was revealed earlier this month, and from the looks of things, the update will likely be rolling out in the near future. Exactly when remains unknown.

Should the update arrive next month, it will likely touch down around the same time that Google announces another Android update, Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s not clear if the Galaxy S3 will get Android 4.4, but if it does, it looks like it won’t arrive until next year.

How they talk about 4.4 while the 4.3 is not even out yet?

They are joking. 4.4Kitkat is a advertising campaign by nestle to promote the Kitkat bar.

I think it’s going to be 4.4, from another article I read it said that the hardware requirements are going to be lower. So some devices that were stuck on 4.0 or lower may be able to update to 4.4

4.3 is out I have it on my Nexus devices. It’s just not available for carriers like AT&T because historically they are sloooow in pushing out updates to any decives.IF they get them at all.

I don’t really see how this post applies to the article, but all I have to say is that it doesn’t seem reasonable to get software technology over 2 years old all on the same day rather than just wait a month or two for brand new technology… iOS7=GS1’s Gingerbread but slightly prettier…
