New Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Spotted for U.S.

One of the remaining Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the United States has been spotted ahead of its arrival though it’s still not clear when it will be rolling out to Galaxy S4 users.

Back in February, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update. The update first landed for users on Sprint and in the weeks after, it pushed out to owners on an assortment of carriers in the United States and elsewhere.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve started to see more Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat details emerge. Most recently, we saw the Verizon Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update push out and saw Australian carriers Optus and Vodafone Australia confirm their plans to deliver their Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades. Optus believes that it will roll out the update starting in June while Vodafone clings to a May roll out.

There are, however, still a number of Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades that remain missing in action. In the United States, there are two updates that remain missing. While the update has rolled out to owners on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Cricket, and Verizon, the update is still missing for Galaxy S4 owners on MetroPCS and C Spire.

A missing Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update has surfaced.

While the carrier still hasn’t confirmed anything, the C Spire Wireless Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update recently showed up on Samsung’s website, teasing those who own the device on one of the United States’ well known regional carriers. The product page simply lists the white Galaxy S4 with KitKat though it does not go into detail about the version. The device is expected to receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the current version of the software.

Oddly enough, the black C Spire Galaxy S4 product page still says that it comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The device is currently running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The appearance of the missing update doesn’t mean that a release is close but it could mean that things are in motion. C Spire and MetroPCS are weeks behind the rest of the pack and thus far, neither carrier has confirmed its Android 4.4 KitKat roll out plans, choosing to remain silent instead. American carriers typically remain silent up until the arrival of the update itself.

C Spire Wireless’ Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update is expected to mirror the updates that have emerged in recent weeks for top carrier’s inside the United States. Those updates were dominated by Android 4.4 KitKat update features as opposed to major changes to Samsung’s TouchWiz software. Galaxy S4 owners waiting for Galaxy S5 software features will need to wait a little bit longer.

These two updates, and the suspended Galaxy S4 Active Android 4.4 KitKat update, represent the remaining Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades in the United States. They aren’t, however, the last Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update remains missing in action and it’s still not clear when Verizon plans to roll it out. The update also remains missing for a majority of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 users in the United States.

Last week, the Sprint Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update started pushing out for the first time. We still haven’t seen any carriers confirm the update though AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon, at least, are expected to push out the upgrade for their versions of the former Galaxy S flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is more elusive. Sprint confirmed the update weeks ago but the software still hasn’t rolled out to users. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon have yet to confirm any plans to deliver a Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update though they’re all expected to roll it out in the future.

Rumors suggest that Google will announce a brand new Android 4.5 update in July alongside a brand new Nexus tablet called the Nexus 8. Details remain scarce though Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 owners would likely get any Android update that Google announces this year given their youth.

If a July launch does take place, it could overlap Samsung’s Android 4.4 KitKat roll out. The company has promised Android 4.4 KitKat updates to a slew of Galaxy-branded tablets and smartphones.

Samsung USA announced a slew of Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the future including updates for the Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy Tab 3, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S4 zoom, Galaxy Light, and Galaxy Note 8.0. The company has not confirmed roll out dates for any of these devices though they’re all expected to arrive at some point before the end of the year.

Melissa, I had this same problem once.. It took me forever to figure out how to fix it. When you slide down your notification page, you’ll see the shortcuts at the top (GPS, Multi-Window, Bluetooth, etc) look for “Sync” This should be highlighted green. If it is not, touch it to turn it on… Problem SOLVED!!!

Horrible update! Had the email problem, hubz fixed it. Go SMS keyboard stopped working. Game apps won’t load properly. I have Verizon and now the internet just stops working. Pages won’t load when on 3G. Rarely have 4G. At a loss.

I am having the same problems and more. My text messages also won’t send, screen freezes on just about everything before it force closes. Internet is a nightmare with the exception of wifi, although it is now running everything exceptionally slow where as before it wasn’t. Also even apps that were factory installed like calander and calculator are taking forever to pull up and every where I had absolutely fine service before, I have none, but all of my family who are also with verizon are having no problems with their service or internet whatsoever! This update ruined my phone, so annoyed
