Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Delayed in UK

Published

It appears that the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date in the United Kingdom, which was thought to be April 26th, has been pushed from Friday to Saturday, April 27th, for unspecified reasons.

All along, the United Kingdom was thought to be getting the Samsung Galaxy S4 on April 26th, a day that falls on a Friday. However, it now appears that the United Kingdom may have to wait a day for the Samsung Galaxy S4’s arrival, at least through Samsung, as the company has confirmed that the device’s release date is now April 27th.

In response to a question about the Galaxy S4 release date, Samsung UK’s Twitter account confirmed April 27th to be the Galaxy S4 release date in the United Kingdom. This is a day later than the date that Samsung had promised to consumers in the United Kingdom. Originally, April 26th was the concrete date for the Galaxy S4’s arrival, a date that had been touted for weeks.

The company has quietly been telling other inquirers that the release date is now April 27th though it has not given any sort of explanation about why it has delayed the Galaxy S4’s debut. Samsung has also confirmed that the device will be available for purchase on April 27th at 10AM local time.

It’s unclear just how this might affect other retailers and carriers though we do see that Three UK is still expected to deliver the Galaxy S4 on Friday, April 26th so it could be that carriers and retailers outside of Samsung are not going to be affected by this change. Keep in mind, it says ‘expected’. Still, those looking to get it directly through Samsung won’t be able to get it until April 27th.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be heading to the United Kingdom after it first arrives in the United States. The U.S. will see its Galaxy S4 debut kick off on April 24th on T-Mobile which will be followed by AT&T, Sprint, U.S. Cellular and at some point, Verizon Wireless as well.

Out of those, Verizon remains the only carrier that has yet to announce any type of pre-order or release date for the Galaxy S4.
