While we’ve already heard about many of the Samsung Galaxy S4 features including its 5-inch 1080p display and speedy processor, there are some other features that are hidden under the device’s surface, namely nine sensors. And as Samsung has detailed, those nine sensors on the Samsung Galaxy S4 deliver some hidden Galaxy S4 features that users may not have known about.

On stage in March, Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the many features that will be coming with the high-end smartphone when it arrives later on this month. Much of the talk has been about its powerful screen, its durable plastic design, its camera sensor and the fact that it has Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, one of the first to have the software on board.

However, as Samsung points out, there is much more to the Samsung Galaxy S4 than that. In fact, the device has some out-of-sight features that help to deliver a wealth of Galaxy S4 features, some of that many prospective owners may not have been aware of.

Samsung has detailed the nine sensors that the Samsung Galaxy S4 possesses, outlining exactly what those nine do for owners of the upcoming Samsung flagship.

The company puts the sensors into simple terms so that the average users can understand their purpose. For instance, the company details a Gesture Sensor that allows users to take advantage of Air View, something that allows owners to manipulate the screen without physically touching it. This is one of the more talked about Galaxy S4 features.

However, there are several that are more hidden. For instance, the RGB Sensor “measures the intensity of the light and is applied to the Samsung Adapt Display, which optimizes screen brightness and sharpness” which results in less eye fatigue when looking at the display. There is also a temperature/humidity sensor which will list temperature and humidity levels on the device’s S Health application.

The Galaxy S4 features some all-around powerful hardware.

There’s even a barometer that can determine altitude and atmospheric pressure which is used in conjunction with Walking Mate.

These features, some of which are heavily promoted, some of which are not, are not going to be features that users find right off the bat. And many of them, while prominent, are hiding in plain view.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is set to arrive in some regions during April though it’s unclear just when the device might hit the U.S. T-Mobile remains the only U.S. carrier that has a confirmed release date, May 1st, while AT&T, Sprint, U.S. Cellular and Verizon models remain unannounced.
