Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Details Bring Deals

The Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is still weeks away in the United States and already, carriers and retailers are offering Galaxy S5 deals to those thinking about picking up Samsung’s first big smartphone of the year.

On February, 24th, Samsung announced the Galaxy S5, its brand new flagship smartphone that will arrive on shelves in April and replace the Galaxy S4 as the company’s flagship model. Samsung failed to confirm a number of the more important Galaxy S5 details at launch, leaving those details to the carriers themselves.

Today, after weeks of waiting, carriers and retailers finally disclosed some of the more pertinent Samsung Galaxy S5 details. Unsurprisingly, companies are going to be offering some incentives to those thinking about picking up Samsung’s “Next Big Thing” when it goes on sale.

Earlier today, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular confirmed several Galaxy S5 details including pricing and pre-orders. The carriers also confirmed two Galaxy S5 deals that they hope will lure in consumers that are in the hunt for a new smartphone.

The first Galaxy S5 deal comes from T-Mobile. The carrier will start taking pre-orders on March 24th and those who decide to order early will not have to pay any kind of a down payment for the device. The offer extends only to those that pre-order the device through T-Mobile by March 31st. After March 31st, it’s not clear what will happen. Those who do place a pre-order will pay down the $650 price tag over a 24-month period.

U.S. Cellular is also offering a deal to those thinking about pre-ordering the Galaxy S5. Those who pre-order through the nation’s fifth largest carrier will get a free $50 Google Play promotional code. The promotional code can be used to purchase content like apps, books and movies.  This offer will not be extended to those that order on, or after, the device’s April 11th release date.

RadioShack also announced today that it will be taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 starting tomorrow. The retailer tells Gotta Be Mobile that those “who pre-order the device in-store will receive a coupon for $50 off their final purchase.” The retailer also notes that prospective buyers can save $75 to $300 by trading in their old device through its Trade & Save program.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Release - Pre-Orders U.S.

These are the first Galaxy S5 deals but they certainly will not be the last. Sprint and Verizon have yet to detail their Galaxy S5 plans and we typically see price cuts emerge on the first day of availability. Retailers like Amazon and Walmart typically offer instant discounts off the standard on-contract price. At AT&T and U.S. Cellular, the Galaxy S5 will be sold for $199.99 on-contract.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 replaces the Galaxy S4 and does so with some top notch features. The Galaxy S5 in the U.S. will feature a 5.1-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 16MP camera, water and dust resistant design, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a number of software upgrades from Samsung itself.
