Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7’s and Galaxy Note’s Displays Are Gorgeous

Published

on

The AMOLED displays on Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Note are simply amazing. The viewing angles are fantastic and the colors are rich. Videos look great, photos pop and static content is so clear that it almost looks too good to even be a display. It’s easy to imagine that some people will mistake a real Samsung device with an AMOLED screen for a display model with a sticker in lieu of a real working scren.

After playing with the two devices at the Showstoppers event at IFA 2011 in Berlin, my iPhone and iPad 2 are looking mighty dull.

In this photo you can get a sense of how alive the Galaxy Tab 7.7’s display looks compared to the user’s hands. Most mobile devices’ displays lose a lot of color accuracy and clarity when viewed at an angle.

In this image you can see that the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is still readable at a pretty extreme angle and the colors are still vibrant.

This image doesn’t do the Galaxy Note’s display justice, but you can see how clear the display is.

This is the phone application on the Galaxy Note. It’s static screens like this one that almost look like a sticker was placed over the display.

These displays are sure to turn heads once they hit store shelves.

Only idiots who don’t understand Pentile Display technology in the first place would make a lame statement like this. Once upon a time RGB Stripe array was seen as the ugly duckling and would never become mass market success. It’s now all you morons believe is any good!

Just like RGB Stripe, Pentile is the new kid on the block more closely displaying what the eye is capable of actually seeing. Green stands out more to the human eye than either blue or red. Therefore the engineers and design team behind Pentile broke up the pattern and took away some of the green sub pixels. It is a Sub Pixel Rendering system whereby the ability to raise the pixel density on a larger screen becomes possible.

The benefits of Pentile in this case far outweigh the negatives and the results to those with their eyes and mind open wide enough to comprehend the quality of these high resolution HD Screens, will in the end be a pebble tossed a pond. Get over it…. you’ll get used to it….. promise. Pentile is the RGB Stripe of today!!! ;D

Well, only idiots who can’t read will call a question a “statement”,
and only the socially handicapped will launch into an aggressive rant at that.

If RGBG PenTile is so superior, why did Samsung come up with Super AMOLED *PLUS*, which is RGB?

PenTile was created as Real-Stripe was too expensive or difficult to produce at the time – the same reason why broadcast TV was interlaced previously. RGBG PenTile is inferior to RGB Real-Stripe in terms of text and image quality, period. If you prefer the jagged text on a PenTile RGBG display, good for you. You’re special. :)
