Published

on

Netflix is a cheap way to watch movies and TV show seasons, but typing in all of your searches can be a pain — especially if you’re browsing the aisles at Best Buy or Walmart.

Enter ScanFLX, a cool new app for the iPhone that scans the barcode of a DVD or Blu Ray and adds it to your Netflix queue instantly.

ScanFLX allows you to scan a movie in Blu-Ray or DVD and it will automatically add your preferred format to your queue, it even allows you to add to Instant Streaming if it is available.

You can see ScanFLX in action in the video below.

It’s a super simple app that use the same technology baked into Amazon and other shopping apps, but instead of spending money, you make better use of your Netflix subscription.

Based on the time it takes Netflix to load to the point that I can start searching for a show, ScanFLX looks much faster, plus you don’t have to type out long titles while you wander the aisles of your local store.

Madmen streamingIf you don’t have any DVDs on hand to scan, you can visit the ScanFLX Tumbler page for humorous UPCs with movie quotes, which will add the movie to your Netflix queue once scanned.

Scanning the barcode to the right will add Mad Men to your Netflix Instant Streaming queue. Don Drapper wouldn’t take the time to type out Mad Men, why should you?

ScanFLX is available on the iPhone for 99 cents, but will soon jump to $1.99.
