Server Logs Reveal Four Possible New Windows Phone Devices

Server logs collected by an independent developer of Windows Phone apps might have revealed four new Windows Phone devices coming from Huawei, Samsung, and Nokia.

After examining their recent server logs, the developers of Love Wallpaper HD, came across four devices whose model numbers don’t match up to any current Windows Phone device already being offered. These models include the Huawei h889L, Samsung SCH-I930, Nokia RM-860_nam_usa_100, and Nokia RM-877_nam_att_205.

Unfortunately, the data which was revealed to WPDang, doesn’t include any other information about the devices at all. As such, there’s no concrete evidence that these devices are in production – just that at some point each device came in contact with and downloaded Love Wallpaper HD.

We do have reports of new Windows Phone devices coming from each one of these manufacturers at some point. Pictures of the Huawei Ascend W2 surfaced last fall. According to Digit, that device was expected to have a 4.5 inch high-definition display, and LTE support. Huawei was expected to announce details on that device during Mobile World Congress this past February, however it never did.

We could find no mention of a new Windows Phone device beyond Samsung’s Odyssey S and ATIV S devices which were released last fall. According to WPCentral, both of those devices carried a model numbers of GT-I8705 and T900M. That would mean that the Samsung device model number in question -SCH-I930 would have to belong to an entirely new hardware build.

The Nokia RM-877_nam_att_205 is also a complete misnomer. Although there has been a lot of chatter about Nokia flagships coming to other carriers, particularly the Nokia Lumia 928 coming to Verizon, and the Nokia Catwalk coming to T-Mobile, there has been no talk of any new devices for AT&T. Recently AdDuplex did mentioned it had detected a device the model name and a 1280X768 display, but that’s it.

The Nokia RM-860_nam_usa_100 is also a bit of a mystery since its model doesn’t even hint at a potential carrier. Instead it only points to its availability in the United States.

It’s important to remember that, just because devices show up in server logs, doesn’t mean that they’ll making it to the public or appearing on store shelves. Many devices are just prototypes and never see the light of day. Others are scrapped before they are ever able to hit store shelves.
