SlingPlayer for Windows Phone 7 Demo Video

As we pointed out yesterday, a lot apps are finally starting to show up in Microsoft’s App Market. With 1,000 apps in the App Market, Microsoft has some serious catching up to do. Fortunately, it looks like SlingPlayer for Windows Phone 7 will be out soon and it’s one good looking app.

It’s already available for BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, Palm, Symbian and older WinMo phones. Switching to a Windows Phone 7 without SlingPlayer would be a big step backward for SlingBox owners.

I use SlingPlayer for iPhone and it looks outdated compared to the Windows Phone 7 version. For example, The Windows Phone 7 SlingPlayer app has transparent controls and guides, which means you don’t have to cover up your TV programs to change a channel or check out the guide.

The WIndows Phone 7 App Market is still about a quarter million apps behind Apple, but it’s not all about quantity. If Microsoft can quickly get popular app developers on board it’ll be great for competition. Microsoft and its partners shouldn’t have to turn away business just because an app like Twitter or SlingBox is missing in action.

SingPlayer for Windows Phone 7 will cost $29.99, just like on other mobile platforms.
