Star Wars Battlefront 2 won’t land until November but you’ll be able to try the game long before that thanks to an upcoming beta.

EA DICE has confirmed a Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The beta will help the developers stress test the game for problems and it will give gamers a chance to try a portion of the game before it arrives in the fall.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has three different release dates in November, the earliest of which is for EA Access and Origin Access subscribers. The global release takes place on November 17th.

How to Get the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta Early

There are multiple Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta release dates. The general release takes place on October 6th and there’s an early release on October 4th.

Those who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront 2 (and those who have already pre-ordered) will be able to start playing the beta a couple of days early.

Retailers are currently selling a few different versions of the game including the $60 standard edition and a more expensive Deluxe Edition.

One caveat? It looks like you’ll need to pre-order the game a few days before the October 4th start date to take advantage of the early access period.

In fine print located on the bottom of its teaser page, the company says the beta offer expires 3 days prior to the beginning of the early access period.

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta kicks off on October 4th and October 6th and it will stretch through October 9th giving Xbox One, PS4, and PC gamers a few days to try the game.

Companies love to extend these betas so don’t be surprised if DICE ends up adding an extra day or two for all gamers, not just those who pre-order.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta PC Requirements

You’ll need to meet certain requirements in order to play the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta on a Windows PC. DICE will almost certainly release recommended and minimum PC specifications ahead of the beta’s release.

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 listing on Origin still says the PC requirements are “Coming Soon.” Unfortunately, the site has said that for several weeks now.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta Features

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta will focus on the multiplayer portion of the game, not the single-player campaign.

EA’s confirmed a few of the key details and it looks like the beta will showcase the game’s 40-player Galactic Assault and the Starfighter Assault mode. There could also be a third map according to a recent leak on Reddit.

The Galactic Assault mode will take place on Naboo and here’s what you can expect from that portion of the beta:

• Join the Separatist droid army or the Republic Clones on the streets of Theed in massive 40 player multiplayer melees.
• Choose from four distinct trooper classes:
  • Assault troopers are classic flankers, pushing the line forward and advancing the front.
  • Heavy troopers use their high-powered weapons and personal body shields to take ground and hold it.
  • Officers power up their teammates with buffs and deploy remote weapons to support their allies.
  • Specialists lay traps and snipe from a distance.
• Control beloved Star Wars heroes, pilot prequel-era vehicles, and more.

EA says Battlefront 2 beta testers will be able to play Fondor: Imperial Shipyard, one of the maps featured in the Starfighter Assault mode.

A leak suggests the company is also planning to allow beta testers to try Strike on Takodana. This isn’t confirmed but the information comes from a credible source.

The same source also says the beta will include an offline Skirmish mode with solo, split-screen and co-op gameplay for two players, a new LAAT gunship, emotes, and credits and Star Cards (these will likely be wiped once the beta ends).
