Star Wars Battlefront Dev Shifting Focus

Star Wars Battlefront Dev Shifting Focus

EA and DICE won't be abandoning Star Wars Battlefront any time soon. There are still problems to solve and the team has promised four expansion packs, the first of which will arrive sometime next year. A specific release date is unknown.

They won't abandon the game but it does look like DICE will be shifting some resources from Battlefront to another massive multiplayer game: The next Battlefield.

According to development director Dan Vanderlind, he and a portion of the DICE team will be shifting to the next Battlefield game, a game that could very well be Battlefield 5. The 2016 Battlefield game will evidently return the game to military conflict rather than the cops and robbers theme found in Hardline.

Vanderlind says that a portion of the team will remain on the Battlefront project. Good thing because while Battle of Jakku added some much needed depth to Battlefront, it could certainly use more game modes, characters and maps.

Along with Battlefront's DLC and Battlefield 5, DICE is also working on Mirror's Edge Catalyst for PC, Xbox One and PS4. The new Mirror's Edge will be released in the first half of 2016.
