Because they bloody need to SUCK the audiences money around the worlds much as they possibly can before they are happy to release it digitally which by then they will suck yet again our money because every Star Wars fans wants to keep a bloody copy.
An average Star Wars fan watch an average of 4-5 times for The Force Awakens.

I betting on a May release of the digital copy. Then on or around June it will go to Blue-Ray/DVD. It seems release coinciden w theater release a 6 month cycle from one to the other
