T-Mobile Admits G2x Has Issues, Promises Fix

Published

on

Yesterday, stock of the T-Mobile G2x vanished at T-Mobile. Rumor had it, T-Mobile had pulled it off shelves due to quality issues. Well, according to T-Mobile, the phone is actually out of stock due to high demand, but there are in fact issues plaguing the G2x that it is working on fixing.

T-Mobile G2x

In a statement made to PCMag, T-Mobile admitted to the problems that are making G2x owners lose sleep at night saying that the company is working with LG on some fixes for what appears to be a problem with its software:

The T-Mobile G2x with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working with LG to address.

Customer satisfaction for the G2x has been high. As with any new device, a small percentage of customers have commented about possible improvements and we are working with LG to deliver a software update, which we expect to offer some performance enhancements.

So, it looks like T-Mobile and LG are committed to tackling both the random reboot problem and the supply issues. Hopefully that means a fix is on the way for current owners and that those of you wanting to get your hands on one, will be able to do so in a timely fashion.

In the meantime, feel free to vent your frustrations to HTC ThunderBolt owners. We’re quite sure they won’t mind.

I bought into the hype about smartphones and bought the G2x because of the wi-fi (I live in a dead zone and the wi-fi connection was going to cure that problem). The wi-fi worked great for the first month, now the people I am talking to can hear me but I cannot hear them because their speech is broken up I hear parts of words and then nothing for a second or so and then another part of a word etc. I have been told its a software issue, but if so, why did it work perfectly for a month before this started happening. Was there an automatic update that screwed this up? I don’t know, all I know is that I am dependent on this phone for business and this kind of stuff is losing customers.

Got rid of my G2X and got the HTC Sensation.  Loved the G2x bt couldnt use it functionally, died at least once a day and had to take out of case, take out battery and put back in.  LOVE my Sensation and noe software issues.  Can use whenever I need to and the media is great.

I have experienced the same problems–  The phone was replaced-  same issues AGAIN!  I use my phone for a business-  I cannot begin to tell you how much business I have lost!  The phone works about 1/2 of the time.  T Mobile nor LG are willing to compensate for lost phone usage nor loss of business due to missed/dropped calls.   T mobile suggests that I PURCHASE another phone.  Does anybody know if there are any class action suits out there because of the equipment/customer service issues?

Hello Susan….please please let all of us know if anyone is starting a class action law suit….this is unbelievable. There has to some attorney somewhere that has this phone that will stand up and start the lawsuit. I have t-mobile send me three phones now and still no promise of replacement or help. Just keeps sending me a refurbished phone. They will not replace, let me upgrade, down grade or even give me my money back. I have to buy a new phone and no compesation for the phone that I have that is less then a year old. Seems like this would be fraudulant advertisment on t-mobile’s part. They sell me product that does not do what they said it would do and therefore I have to pay the price to replace the product that never worked properly in the first place. Class action law suit…HE** yes…

I will research the internet to my fingers a sore from typing to get every ounce of information I can about the LG T-mobile G2X and its problems so that I can make sure and put my 2 cents in and make sure I am on board for the class action law suite if and when it takes place. I am certain there will be an attorney who will love to pick up this case.

i got the g2x about a month a go and i loved it…faster and powerful then any phone i had with t-mobile for the last 6+years i been with them…but now i loose service(calling/and 4g) in many places..i understand that there will be “dead zones” and some issues in some buildings. i live in buffalo ny and we have great coverage in most of the areas i go to…i now start to loose signal and everything it dont matter if im at a store, outside at a park,in my home…i could see it dropping to a 2g connection but it seems that the only place that it works like it should is at the t-mobile store…im taking my g2x back to see if they will help me out i had the mytouch 3g…slow as hell but i NEVER LOST A CONNECTION OR A SIGNAL EVEN IN MY WORK AT A LARGE WAREHOUSE WHERE OTHER HAD ISSUES….just to think i had been with t-mobile for 6 years and was gunna go to version/sprint or at&t but decided to stay with them because i never had prob. before…now im stuck in a new 2 year contract…

My g2x has been exchanged 4 times since April. The phone has problem with recognizing the correct numbers when I am accessing my voicemail that has a 4 digit pin. And also drains the battery and shuts off randomly. I just recently received a new battery from T mobil a week ago and still has the same problem with battery being drained. Also, it will not charge in the car. I tried asking tmobil for a complete new phone and some of their reps said I needed 4 exhanges in 90 days and other reps said 2 in 90 days. The phone is really bad and the customer service is worst.

For the record I’m on my 4th g2x. T-Mobile says I have to go through 3 in 90 day before the give me something else. Been given runaround for over a year.
