T-Mobile Confirms September Availability for Moto X

Published

on

After having been recently available on AT&T and confirmed to be coming to Verizon Wireless this Thursday, T-Mobile US became the third U.S. carrier to announce availability of the Moto X flagship from Google-owned Motorola Mobility. T-Mobile CEO John Leger had turned to Twitter to bash rival AT&T’s upgrade policies and promote that the Moto X will be coming in September. An exact availability date in September was not given by Legere, however.

In addition to Legere’s tweet, T-Mobile had also put up a placeholder for a support page for the Moto X.

It’s still unclear when the phone will officially be coming to T-Mobile’s U.S. retail stores. Earlier in the month, T-Mobile executive Mike Sievert had said that the phone wouldn’t be landing in retail stores right away, but customers could order direct from Motorola and those handsets would support T-Mobile’s network.

Also, besides the carrier-specific variants of the Moto X, Motorola will also be creating a developer edition of the smartphone that will be sold in Google’s Play Store. That model will have a bootloader that can be unlocked and “Developer Edition” inscribed on the rear panel of the phone. The Developer Edition now has a coming soon page posted, but like the T-Mobile edition, no additional information was released about this smartphone.

On select variants of the Moto X–initially on AT&T and later through Verizon–Motorola will also allow customers to customize the phone with color options for the rear, buttons, and trim of the phone.
