T-Mobile Galaxy S4 Now On Sale, But For How Long?

Published

on

As expected, the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 has gone on sale, online, ahead of its eventual in-store release date in May. However, as T-Mobile points out, supply is going to be limited online and those looking to order could be facing a quick sell out when it comes to Samsung’s brand new flagship smartphone.

Finally, after weeks of waiting, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is on sale through T-Mobile with consumers now able to purchase the device through the company’s online retail store. Today’s release date, which was originally scheduled for April 24th and was pushed back due to inventory issues, marks the first time that consumers outside of AT&T, Sprint and U.S. Cellular have been able to purchase the Galaxy S4.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S4 is now on sale, but for how long?

T-Mobile of course is offering it up in different fashion as it has shifted from offering devices on-contract to devices off-contract. The Galaxy S4 is currently available for $149.99 which consumers will need to pay up front today and after that, buyers will need to pay $20 per month to buy off the phone. The trade off is that the offer doesn’t require a contract.

The carrier also is offering the Galaxy S4 on its 4G LTE network with a backup network that is much faster than the others. T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42, which in some areas is comparable to LTE, is the carrier’s backup in places where LTE isn’t available. It’s much faster than 3G or AT&T’s “4G”.

Problem is, T-Mobile is clearly in short supply of the Galaxy S4 and there is no telling how long consumers are going to be able to purchase the device. A sell out appears likely as the carrier claims that supply is limited and that consumers looking to buy are going to need to act fast. As of right now, both models of the Galaxy S4 are available but that could certainly change in a heartbeat.

The carrier won’t have the Galaxy S4 in stores until May 8th in some areas and May 15th in all retail stores which means that those who aren’t able to order online are going to be waiting a number of days for the device to hit shelves.

When it does, the Galaxy S4 will arrive with many of the same specs that we’ve seen from other Galaxy S4 smartphones. That means a 5-inch display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and Samsung’s new smart features.

They’re still on sale, but obviously out of stock already. Ordered one this morning with 1-day shipping. The estimated delivery date changed from April 30 to May 7 about an hour ago.

I ordered mine and was forced to choose standard ground shipping for a May 7th delivery. I called them, complained, ordered a second phone with over night shipping and did not cancel just yet as I am supposed to get a call tommorow to cancel it out and refuse the first order when it arrives. My second shipment is going to be delivered tommorow, I have a tracking number and everything looks good so far, we’ll see though I guess.

Ive been with t mobile for 8yrs and will be leaving soon. I do not think its fair i have to pay full price for phone. Consumers purchase phones not only for the technology but also the price. You say theres no more contracts but i have to pay 20 for two years is just crazy. Also i still have to pay 200 to back out my prev contract. I liked tmobile the way it use to, but with the new change i have to leave.

Your saving more than the other carriers. you pay $20 extra a month, paying for the phone

Interesting. Looks like the people that paid for one-day shipping actually are getting it. The status changed overnight to “Shipped” with a tracking number (already on the truck for delivery today).
