T-Mobile Introduces Truly Unlimited Data Plans

Published

on

While T-Mobile has been marketing its current 3G and 4G data plans as unlimited, there is a small catch in that after a certain amount of usage–you decide how much that is based on your data plan selection and amount you’re willing to pay per month–your speeds would get throttled to slower 2G EDGE speeds, though customers would never be charged overages on those unlimited data plans.

However, with Sprint promoting that it’s the only carrier to promote truly unlimited data plans with no throttling and no overages, the nation’s fourth largest carrier may be feeling a bit of pressure from its larger rival just introduced a new truly unlimited data plan.

T-Mobile’s unlimited 4G nationwide plan will cost $30 for classic customers and $20 for value customers and there doesn’t seem to be any catch. The carrier says that customers can begin signing up for the plans starting on September 5.

T-Mobile-logoWith T-Mobile set to begin rolling out its 4G LTE network in 2013, unlimited data plans may attract those who want to do more with their smartphones while away from WiFi hotspots. Currently, T-Mobile operates a 4G HSPA+ network, which delivers rather fast speeds, but is still not as fast as rival carrier AT&T’s 4G LTE speeds.

The new unlimited data plans on T-Mobile can pair with a value plan or a classic plan with unlimited talk and text for $69.99 and $89.99 respectively.

Verizon and AT&T continue their drive to kill of unlimited data plans with new tiered data plans and shared data plans. Verizon’s new rules cut off unlimited data when a customer purchases a new subsidized phone, forcing those who wish to keep an unlimited data plan to pay full price for new phones.
