OK, we’ve got a rare opportunity coming up here to solve one of the deepest, most profound, most critical, most divisive, most contentious, (and if you can’t read the previous list of as hyperbole and irony then move on) issues facing the mobile computing world today. First the issue: What are we going to call [...]
I’ve largely stayed away from Netbooks, outside of reviewing them and checking them out. My wife is still running an original Asus Eee PC and seems quite content with it for the way she uses it. But there is no doubt that Netbooks, or whatever the heck we are going to call them, are attractive [...]
This 6 outlet wallmount from ezGear looks like something that would come in useful in our hotel room during CES – three guys, tons of accessories and tablets to charge. You get the idea… We’ll try to stop by their booth at CES to check them out. No word on pricing. Press release after the [...]
I’ve been on a wonderful extended family vacation since December 29, visiting friends and family in Chicago. Truly, a great time. But now it is time to hunker down and get ready for CES 2009. I leave before the sun comes up Wednesday morning (a lot of my colleagues will be heading to Vegas on [...]
One of the highlights of CES is always the Tablet PC Meetup. This year, the meetup will be held at CntrStg @ the Wynn on Saturday, January 10th from 3 — 6. We hope to see all the Tablet and Touch vendors and enthusiasts there! Check out CntrStg and the Facebook event for more information.
In a whopper of a press release, Lenovo has announced a stunner of a new all-in-one desktop called the A600, three new IdeaPad Y-Series laptops, and announced instant-on capability and a multi-touch trackpad for their S10 Netbook. Regarding the new instant-on capability in the S10 Netbook: Other new features on the IdeaPad S10 netbook include [...]
Chippy has some info over on UMPC Portal about the new Sony UMPC that (hopefully) will be covered by the gang at CES next week. It appears that Sony will be dipping into the Intel Atom processors on this one — check out the specs: Atom Z250 1.33 2GB RAM HDD (optional SSD) GPS [...]
Here is another gadget I am taking to CES 2009 – the HP Mini 1000 Netbook. We will be doing a head to head comparison between the Lenovo S10, Samsung NC10, and the HP Mini 1000 Netbooks. We’ll also be comparing our various Netbooks to other Netbooks that we come across or are announced during [...]
As I am sure most of you are aware by now Team GBM is using some loaner Lenovo computers to cover CES (if you didn’t know that, they did :) ). I was supposed to be going this year, but things didn’t work out. I did still get a Lenovo X301 for a [...]
Check out this short video of what I am taking to CES in order to bring you all the videos, pictures, and news you will be reading. Warner has a similar set up, too. The only thing you do not see in this video is the Nokia E71 that I am using to do the [...]
As an attendee of Digital Experience, I just got a list of vendors planning to present at Digital Experience emailed to me; and, what do I find but this little nugget of info listing OQO as a presenter, announcing their Model 2+ featuring the 1.86 ghz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and an embedded [...]
Next week starts CES 2009, which means hands on with mobile pcs, netbooks, huge televisions, gadgets, tablet pc meetups, CntrStg, tired feet, fighting connectivity issues, and no sleep. What geek could ask for anything more? Although the show itself doesn’t start until Thursday, January 8th, there are alot of activities kicking off earlier in the [...]
I’ve got two things on my to-do list this week. Launch a new website for a customer and get my stuff ready CES 2009. I’ve already begun packing my gear bag and here is what I’m taking with me:
Here we go again. The next four months feature most of my yearly travel adventures. Tomorrow morning my wife and I head out for the annual pilgrimage to her home town, Chicago. We do this each and every year and visit family and friends. But that’s just the beginning. From Chicago, I head out to [...]
Here we go with my predictions for what we’ll see, what we’ll talk about, what’ we’ll laud, and what we’ll moan about in the coming year. If I do say so myself, I did pretty well with my 2008 predictions, but that is no guarantee that I have any great leg up on what I’m [...]
It looks like Samsung is prepping a new Netbook for April 2009 release. According to Blogeee, Samsung is planning on following up the NC10, which has captured a lot of attention, with a newer version. Maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of this at CES 2009 in a few weeks. via jkkmobile
We’ve known Intel’s Convertible Classmate was coming in 2009 (Truc posted on this awhile back.) But now we have confirmation. Joanna at Laptop Mag had a chat with Intel and she seems impressed with how Intel has tuned up the software and some of the touch applications.
Rumors are rampant that Sony will be unveiling an iPod like device at CES2009. Does the world need another MP3 player? Maybe, maybe not, but if you can buy direct from the Amazon MP3 store that could shift that answer. If the specs I’m reading is true, there are a couple of very interesting aspects [...]
Lenovo just sent me their X200 Tablet PC with touch support to use during our coverage of CES 2009. Look for some review InkShows and comparison posts in the coming days and weeks. Lenovo is also outfitting the rest of the team with various Lenovo solutions: Rob: X200 Tablet PC with Touch Warner: X200 Tablet [...]
We’re getting closer and closer to CES 2009 and you know what that means. It’s party time! The 2009 CES Tablet PC and Touch Community Meetup is getting planned and this should be definitely showing up on your agenda. There’s no location named yet, but there is a date and time: Saturday, January 10, 2009 [...]
