The forum members at MyDellMini are busy tablet modders. A few weeks back, we saw a Dell Mini turned into a touchscreen tablet by Rob928. Now, there’s a new one from rock99rock sporting accelerometer-based screen rotation that looks really smooth in the video demo. What’s really impressive is that he pulled it off with a [...]
Why should Apple make a Netbook? There doesn’t really seem to be a need. Apparently going the Hackintosh route is providing the same thing, just without any money flowing Cupertino’s way. And then again, Mr.. Jobs has said that they can’t make one for the price point that would cut his vision of mustard. It [...]
Wow — check this out! Thanks to Crunchgear posting this up. Dell has some Dell Mini 9 Netbooks in the refurbished computer store, and with a coupon you can cut the cost from $209.00 down to $179.00. It is the lowest end model with Ubuntu and only a 4G solid state drive, but if you [...]
Professional photographers are necessarily picky and finicky creatures when it comes to choosing a display screen for their work. Everything from viewing angles to color-matching is important to their work and the details do matter. Looks like there might be a controversy over the batteries shipping with the Dell Mini-9 Netbooks. Apparently users have discovered that there is a discrepancy in the ratings of the batteries. While they all appeared to be rated and marked for 32Wh, after testing some are only yielding 24Wh.

Low price points make Netbooks awfully attractive. Performance enhancements like SSD’s do as well, and it looks like the costs might be starting to come in line, at least at Dell. Check out this upgrade option where you can add a 32GB SSD for only a $100. Via Engadget
I think it is great that most Netbooks appear to be imminently hackable, and we’ve seen quite a few Netbooks modded to include a touch screen. Given that we’ve seen early news that Windows 7 will most likely be a decent experience on a Netbook, it begs the question as to how many Netbook OEMs [...]
Looking for a way to get past that plain black or white look for your new Netbook? Dell is offering up some pretty cool designs that will cost you $50 more, but are certainly more eye-catching than Alpine White. They have also added Cherry Red and Pretty Pink for $25 over the base price. More [...]
Walt Mossberg takes on Netbooks in a review in the Wall Street Journal and essentially says what we’ve known all along. For some users (browsing, email, etc….) they work well and for power use look elsewhere. He takes a look at a decent cross section featuring four models: The Acer Aspire One, The Dell Mini [...]
