Apple Pay launched last week to much fanfare, but if it isn’t quite your cup of tea, here’s how to remove a credit card from Apple Pay on your iPhone 6.
Apple Pay allows you to store your credit card information on your iPhone and use it to buy stuff at any store that supports Apple Pay. The iPhone 6 has an NFC chip that allows you to tap the pay terminal at a store to instantly buy goods. Furthermore, doing this doesn’t give the store your credit card information, so you’re less susceptible to store hacks that steal credit card information, similar to the recent Home Depot and Target hacks.
Apple Pay also works with mobile shopping apps, allowing you to pay [...]
While Apple Pay has seen a rather buggy start, its popularity is still well-noticed, but not all retail stores want in on the fun, and CVS and Rite Aid have actually shut down NFC payments all together in order to shut out Apple Pay and make room for its own digital payment platform.
According to The New York Times, both CVS and Rite Aid have stopped accepting Apple Pay and went ahead and shut down all NFC payment options, but the reason behind the move wasn’t officially declared by either store.
However, many people believe that the shutdown was in part because both stores plan to roll out its own digital payment service early next year, known as CurrentC. This [...]
While rumors have been wildly flying around about a possible release date for Apple Pay, the company announced today that it will be officially launching its digital payment platform on Monday, October 20.
Apple unveiled Apple Pay last month during its iPhone 6 event, but the platform has yet to release to the public. However, users will only have to spend one more shopping weekend before they can begin using the new payment service.
At first, rumors suggested that Apple Pay would launch alongside of the iOS 8.1 update, and it looks like that will be the case, since iOS 8.1 will launch on Monday as well.
Apple Pay is essentially the company’s own digital wallet [...]
Leading up to the release of Apple Pay, banks have already begun to laud the security of the new payment platform, but one bank hints at the possible release date of Apple’s new digital wallet system.
In an interview with The Daily Dot, USAA said that it would begin support for Apple Pay on November 7, meaning that the payment platform would be at least available to consumers by then.
However, it’s important to note that USAA is one of the banks that will most likely be adding support for Apple Pay after the platform launches, considering that the bank is listed under “Coming Soon” on Apple’s website rather than on the list of banks that [...]
Google unveiled and launched its Google Wallet card last week, and we recently just received ours in the mail. If you have a Google Wallet account, you can order your card for free within seconds, and even if you don’t have a Google Wallet account, you can activate one quickly and easily if you have a Google account (which almost everyone has).
Google Wallet essentially acts like a bank account but without any annoying routing numbers or account numbers to deal with, similar to PayPal. In the past, users have been able to pay for things from their Google Wallet account by using online retailers that support the service, or send money directly to other Google Wallet [...]
After rolling out Google Wallet to nearly all Android devices a couple days ago, Google has launched an iPhone version to go along with the mass rollout. Since the iPhone doesn’t have NFC, you won’t be able to pay payments in stores, but you’ll be able to send money to other people by just knowing their email address, and you can also use the app to store credit/debit cards and store loyalty cards.
The app also comes packing integration with Google Offers for redeeming discounts based on location, and it will let iOS users add credit cards to the app for making purchases online, as well as sending money.
The app is a lot like PayPal, but sending money [...]
