I am at Verizon getting a MiFi and noticed the Hp netbook on display. This local store has not sold any yet, but there has been interest say the local reps. I still maintain embedded wwan in netbooks and tablets is not the best solution for mobile warriors. Go MiFi or USB aircard.

It kinda feels like one of those old fashioned car sales wars when one dealer would work to match or beat the dealer down the street. Dell just announced its new high res screen for the Mini 10 Netbook. HP, who had announced a 1366 x 768 screen was coming for the HP 2140 awhile [...]

Given a choice, I will always use a mobile computer that supports an extended battery over a regular battery. For me, the benefit of additional battery life outweighs the extra weight or thickness. When I saw that the 6-cell battery for HP’s Mini 1000 was 20% off, I decided to go ahead and order one. [...]

Last week we brought you news that HP was offering an extended battery for the HP Mini 1000. But that news was tempered somewhat because the battery was listed as out of stock at the time. Well, it looks like they are in stock at the moment and available for same day shipping. The [...]

Don’t tell my wife. HP is now offering an extended 6-cell battery for the HP Mini 1000 on the HP Shopping site. It had been available previously, but only listed as a part. Intriguingly enough it is currently listed as out of stock. The battery will set you back $119.99. Here’s the link.
If you’ve been following the story of the HP Mini 1000 Webcam woes today, you’ll know that the first there was one video from GearDiary, then there wasn’t as HP apparently asked that it be taken down. Then our cohorts at Notebooks.com posted up another video which we once again posted here. HP has contacted [...]

When I won the HP Mini 1000 at CntrStg during CES 2009 I was excited and knew my wife was going to claim this Netbook the minute I got home, which she did. While I’ve worked with it a bit, I haven’t had my hands on it very much, so I never noticed this webcam [...]

Why should Apple make a Netbook? There doesn’t really seem to be a need. Apparently going the Hackintosh route is providing the same thing, just without any money flowing Cupertino’s way. And then again, Mr.. Jobs has said that they can’t make one for the price point that would cut his vision of mustard. It [...]

I knew when I won the HP Mini 1000 at CntrStg at CES 2009 that I was never really going to get to use it, once I returned home. I also knew that when my wife Thomasin picked it up the first time that my situation was hopeless. After a grueling few weeks of work [...]

After we posted up video of Notebooks.com’s Xavier Lanier packing a 6-cell battery for the HP Mini 1000, the netbook world went crazy. There was finally proof that a 6-cell battery battery was available for this popular netbook, and it was finally within grasp. Now thanks to the folks at HPMiniForums.com and PortableMonkey, there [...]

Hmm? Looks like there is some confusing info about what we reported about the HP Mini 1100 models with an ExpressCard/54 slot this morning. According to Obsessable.com, these may or may not be a new model, (thus the 1100 series designation) and they may or may not have ExpressCard/54 slots. Yeah, I know. Like [...]

HP is pushing the Netbook/mini hard, which I’m assuming speaks to consumer demand. There are variants of the current HP Mini 1000 coming down the road with a designator of the HP Mini 1100. Most of the differences seem minor in the 1133CL, 1135NR, 1140NR, and 1141NR, but it looks like and ExpressCard/54 will be [...]

Thomasin hard at work with the HP Mini 1000, late on a Saturday night.

When I got lucky and won an HP Mini 1000 at CntrStg during CES 2009 I knew I would have a fight on my hands when I got home. After my wife confirmed that I didn’t purchase the device, I knew she would want it for herself. She’s been working on an original Asus Eee [...]

During CES, we had the rare opportunity to have four Netbooks (or whatever you want to call them) on hand for a head-to-head comparison: Lenovo’s S10, Samsung’s NC10, HP’s Mini 1000, and HP’s Mini 2140 (not officially a Netbook, but close enough for our purposes). We compare the keyboards, touchpads, power buttons, ports, sizes, screen [...]

Winning is always fun and this was sure fun. We’ve been enjoying the bandwidth, the food, the drink, the fellowship, and the fun at CntrStg, a great place for bloggers to get some work done, network, and see some great presentations. CntrStg is sponsored by HP, AMD, OtterBox, Boston Power, Eye-Fi, Big Skinny, skooba design, [...]

Tomorrow we’re going to be filming a video that pits the HP Mini 1000, the HP Mini 2140, the Samsung NC10, and the Lenovo S10 Netbooks head to head. We’re lucky to have all of these available to compare in one place at one time, (you’ll know just how lucky on the HP Mini 1000 [...]

I’ve largely stayed away from Netbooks, outside of reviewing them and checking them out. My wife is still running an original Asus Eee PC and seems quite content with it for the way she uses it. But there is no doubt that Netbooks, or whatever the heck we are going to call them, are attractive [...]

Here is another gadget I am taking to CES 2009 – the HP Mini 1000 Netbook. We will be doing a head to head comparison between the Lenovo S10, Samsung NC10, and the HP Mini 1000 Netbooks. We’ll also be comparing our various Netbooks to other Netbooks that we come across or are announced during [...]

A couple of interesting looks at Netbooks rolled up in my feeds this morning and they are worth taking a look at. First up, Brad Linder of Liliputing has posted a review of the HP Mini 1000. He gives quite a good comparison of the new Mini 1000 versus the earlier HP Mini 2133 and [...]
HP is now offering the addition of mobile broadband option with the HP Mini 1000. For $199 you can add the option on purchase. HP’s is using the un2400 Mobile Broadband card and it supports GSM and CDMA based networks with self activation options. That means you get to choose between Verizon’s EVDO or AT&T’s [...]

I have not been a huge fan of Netbooks, mostly due to the size of the keyboard, screen, and being worried about performance. Having a chance to review the HP Mini 1000 changed that for me, though. The HP Mini 1000 is a fantastic choice for those wanting something more mobile without wanting to break [...]

UMPCFever has more pictures than you could ever want to see of the HP Mini 1000 Netbook, from what looks like a demo at a users group meeting. I have to say this looks like a very sweet Netbook from the pictures. Can’t wait to see how well it performs.

Word leaked out over the weekend about HP’s Mini 1000, but HP has made it official today by announcing three editions: Mini 1000 with Windows XP, pricing starts at $399. Max RAM is 1gb due to Microsofts Netbook configuration limitations. Available now in 8.9 and 10.2 inch configurations. Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam edition – comes [...]

Just as we suspected when we posted the price drop on the HP 2133 Mini-Note at Amazon, there would soon be news of a new HP Netbook. And, wouldn’t you know it, there is. Vivek at the Technicist caught site of the HP Mini 1000 on HP’s shopping site. All the data and specs aren’t [...]
