Motion Computing is shipping me a prototype of their new extended battery for the LS800. They’ve given me permission to post pictures and maybe even a video. Shipping availability on the extended battery is mid-May. No word on pricing yet.
– Rob Bushway In this inaugural launch of our video reviews (we don’t have a good name for them yet!), we are pleased to present our review of Motion Computing’s LS800. In this video, I take a tour of the tablet pc, the pen, bump case, docking solutions, compare it to other tablet pcs, and then offer [...]

I upgraded the ram on the LS800 this past Friday. In between the two hours it took me, I also called John Hill of Allegiance Technology Partners and asked him to help me figure out how get the back off without cracking it. I don’t recommend that you do this upgrade. It is not meant [...]
I’ve noticed a growing trend in forum and blog posts since the UMPC / Origami was announced – the number of people who have said: I’d get one because I just don’t take my Tablet PC with me to the places I really need it – which really means “ I don’t take it to the [...]
The LS800 that I ordered to do my review with just arrived. Oh my ..I think I’m in love! Seriously — this thing is small. I’ve got it sitting next to a TC1100 and there is no comparison to how light and portable this thing is. The Mobile Dock that I ordered with it is [...]
James Kendrick has just posted an article on a company, called WEDC, that is modifying the LS800 Tablet PC with touch screen. Very interesting. I’m with James on this one, though. Why would someone want to mess up a perfectly good active digitizer tablet like that? Apparently there must be demand for it, though. Why not just [...]
If you read the interview with Motion Computing’s Scott Eckert, you know that he really didn’t answer the Lifestyle PC question that I posed to him. He couldn’t respond to that question due to NDA, even though the ““ideal specs†were publicly talked about at the Mobile Partners Brief in Redmond. Well, with the device officially announced, Scott [...]

– I’m not gonna do any speculation in this post about Origami. I do feel the need to warn you though – don’t get confused until you know the facts. If people are convinced that Origmai is an “UltraMobile PC” (UMPC), that is probably a good assumption, and I am willing to comment on that [...]
In what will be the first among many interviews with key players in the Tablet PC and Mobile PC industry, we are delighted to inaugurate this category with our interview with Scott Eckert, CEO of Motion Computing. Motion Computing’s current product line includes the LE1600 Tablet PC and LS800 ultra mobile tablet pc. GBM: Scott, Thank you for [...]
Overall, I’ll say that I’m pleased with the LE1600 Convertible Keyboard. I’ll summarize my thoughts as a series of bullet points, rather than a very long post. Likes: It props up the tablet and allows for a wide range of angle placement, much like a regular laptop. No messy cables The keyboard is much better [...]
I received the LE1600 last Friday. With everything that Motion has done innovation wise to this tablet, I was really excited about the possibilities. I’ve always liked the Motion tablets: I’ve owned 2 of them prior to this one — M1300 and M1400VA. Motion kept up with excellence in design and innovation and there is [...]
In my review of the Motion Bluetooth Keyboard, I talked about a much needed accessory: a prop in the back of the tablet, that when folded out, it would prop the tablet up like a picture frame Well, after talking with Trevor Claiborne (a felllow Tablet PC MVP), I became aware of the SlateGlove. Its’ [...]
