There is a new tablet in the works that is designed with productivity in mind. It is called the m • pad and is designed by Volker Hübner of Germany. It has a 15.6″ OLED display with multi-touch and a pressure-sensitive stylus. There seem to be ports for USB, Ethernet and Firewire, according to Slashgear. The dimensions are 430x280x25mm. [...]

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung brought a few prototypes of its flexible AMOLED display panels, which are shown with curved, wavy hard plastic casings showing that the flexible displays can be curved and bended to fit different types of surfaces for new display applications. Perhaps a wearable watch where even the wristband could be [...]

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung Mobile was showing off some transparent 3D displays of screen sizes 14- and 19-inch. The displays essentially created a moving diorama and gives off a pretty impressive glasses-free 3D effect that you can see in the videos below. The displays use AMOLED technology.

While Samsung is looking to replace IPS LCD screens with its own Super PLS LCD screens, LG Display is tackling the OLED display technology along with QD Vision. With QD Vision’s design, LG Display is looking to produce quantum-dot LED screens, also known as QLED displays, which is a nanotechnology display that offers better performance [...]

Samsung really is bringing more tablets to the market. After the company has shown off a larger 7-inch Super AMOLED panel display, Samsung is now showing off prototypes of tablets with the mentioned screen. Okay, I was late in predicting LCDs would make a comeback thanks to the OLED shortage, but at least I snuck that in before HTC announced their new Super LCD technology, touted to deliver better color, contrast, viewing angles, and energy efficiency than existing LCDs.

I’ve mentioned this in passing a couple of times, but there is an OLED shortage. Samsung is taking the lead in addressing the problem, but building a new state-of-the-art factory takes more than a couple of months. In the meantime, there is an OLED shortage.

A rumor working its way around the Internets is that Apple is looking into using OLED panels for different-sized iPads. Exciting! Furthermore, those new iPads could arrive as soon as the last quarter of the year. Awesome! And on top of all that, it’s almost impossible that this could happen. Boo!
Everyone’s a twitter over the sweet Apple Tablet tweets from Jason Calcanis. Our focus, rightfully, has been on the battery life claim (need more usage data here). However, if I’m piecing this together properly, he’s saying this thing is a 10″ OLED TV for $600. That’s staggering. To put that in perspective, Sony’s XEL-1 is [...]
Lots of talk lately about OLED screens being something we’ll be seeing on lots of devices in the future. Certainly from what I’ve seen first hand and from what I’ve read they are pretty to look at and they do draw less energy. That said, I’ve seen a few reports lately about the Nexus One [...]
Today seems to be the day for new display news. The Flexible Display Center at Arizona State University (the fightin’ aardvarks! …or cacti …or something. I don’t know college sports) has announced a breakthrough that brings flexible OLED (organic light emitting diode) screens closer to mass market. Something to do with a whole bunch of [...]

I just did an interview with OQO‘s Bob Rosin and am uploading the video now. Stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, keep reading for more on the new OQO Model 2+ = pics, specs, and pricing. Can you say $999 and super crisp / sharp? Keep reading .

Yeah, it is just a concept from Samsung, and yeah it is probably way down the road if it ever comes to be, but it sure is fun to look at and dream, now isn’t it? Via Crunchgear
