The 5 Best Android Smartphones [June, 2012]

Published

on

The weather isn’t the only thing heating up now that summer is upon us. No, the world of Android phones always seems to catch fire right around summer time and June of 2012 looks to be no different.

In our latest edition of our top five Android smartphones on the market we have a mix of new and old. We also have some phones bowing out.

Last month’s list featured the AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy Note which has fallen out of the top five and T-Mobile’s HTC One S is no longer in the mix either.

Instead, those have been replaced by two juggernauts that will likely be two of the best-selling Android phones of the year.

So, without further ado, here are the five devices that we think are the cream of the Android crop for the month of June, 2012.

HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sprint’s latest EVO device, the HTC EVO 4G LTE has gotten off to a rough start. It missed its original May 18th release date because of a patent issue which delayed pre-orders and its in-store launch.

However, Sprint has now given it a June 2nd launch date which means the much heralded device will be hitting shelves soon.

It will join the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as one of Sprint’s 4G LTE devices but be weary, Sprint’s 4G LTE network still hasn’t lit up yet.

Still, that shouldn’t take anything away from this device. It’s about as quality as you’re going to find on the Android market.

HTC One X

Apple’s patent dispute with HTC not only affected Sprint’s EVO 4G LTE, it affected AT&T’s HTC One X as well. Stock of the One X is scarce at the moment and unfortunately, it’s not because of the device’s popularity.

However, once it’s back in stock, we fully expect this phone to sell well as it is easily the best Android phone available on AT&T’s 4G LTE network and in our opinion, is up there with the best on the market.

Sprint and Verizon’s phone are almost identical now that Verizon has rolled out the device’s Android 4.0.4 update. The only difference is that Sprint’s version of the device offers compatibility with Google Wallet, Google’s mobile payment platform, and Verizon’s does not.

“It will join the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as one of Sprint’s 4G LTE devices but be weary, Sprint’s 4G LTE network still hasn’t lit up yet.”

I am tired enough as it is but I will be wary of any further misspellings

Thanks for the write up and the videos.

i already have galaxy s2 one..very nice smartphone even compared to iphone 4.as per my knowledge Samsung is one of the most innovative company in the world now. ~ $40 billion into R&D (2012) is a huge investment. Samsung has just claimed a breakthrough in graphene development, by creating a semiconductor from the material. check Galaxy S II Price Guide: Which has the highest resale value and why? .next, plan to get one galaxy s3..hope this smart galaxy s3 will be more powerful..

Why doesn’t somebody do a review of “best smartphones more than 6 months old”? I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy S2 for 9 months and am happier with it today than the first week I bought it (and I was pretty darned happy then). It’s my first Android phone and with the gorgeous screen and ease of use, I am doing so many things I never thought I’d be able to do on a phone. I bought a second battery in a small case which I keep charged and in my purse, so I’m never worrying about my battery running out at an inconvenient time. The S2 has become my diary, my primary entertainment device (more than my tablet), my email workhorse, my device for taking notes or recording conversations in meetings, etc. — not to mention a great phone. I’m not interested in upgrading to something newer and cooler; and frankly I don’t understand this culture in which teens and 20-somethings go out and buy new phones every few months. How mature do you have to be before you realize that in today’s technology, the minute you walk out the door with your device, there’s something more amazing & innovative getting ready to debut? I guess I just answered my own question — no one would be interested in a survey of smartphone performance 6 months after purchase because apparently nobody keeps their phones that long, so what would be the point? Oh well, thank you Samsung for the S2, and keep up the good work. You’ll definitely get brand loyalty from me!

Well I’m sure there are plenty of reviews for smartphones that are no longer the newest product. Personally, I am going to be making my first smartphone purchase soon, and I do want to get one that is considered one of the best at the moment. I do agree that if you are upgrading your phone everytime a new and better smartphone comes out that is ridiculous. There’s no need and it’s sure to cost you a lot of money! But if you are due for an upgrade, why wouldn’t you want the best that is on the market? I am looking at the Galaxy SIII. It seems like a great phone and is clearly one of the best out right now. The One X also seems like a great phone, but unfortunately I am a verizon customer. I also would be interested in a DROID, but none on the market are tempting enough to best out the SIII. A new DROID will probably be coming out soon, but I am not going to wait around for that. I’m not an apple iPhone fan, but if I was I would hold out for the iPhone 5 since it’s sure to be out this fall. Anyway, it’s nice the SII works for you and I think there is no reason you should get a new smartphone. It is still a great phone! However, other people do want to learn about what is the best right now and if you’re starting a new contract, you probably will fork over for the current best.
