The mintpad Internet Tablet Coming to the US

Published

mintpad Internet Tablets seem to be a hot topic these days, at least in conversation. I’m still not convinced we need that class of device in addition to MIDs (I’m still not sure about those either), SmartPhones, Netbooks, Tablet PCs, and PMPs with Internet access. And of course, there are the mythical Apple Tablet/iPhone and the CrunchGear Tablet that seem to grow in stature the longer we go without hearing anything but talk.

But maybe Korean company mintpass will offer some sort of testing of the waters when its mintpad to the US. It has been on sale in Korea since last fall (price roughly equivalent to $143 US). No word on when it will hit the US or what the price will be, and this is certainly a smaller device than the 10 inch screens that some are talking about for Internet Tablets. The mintpad only has a 2.86 inch display with touch screen and obviously is geared towards media consumption.

Check out the video after the break.

Isn’t an Internet tablet an MID? I thought the category was subsumed.
