And now we head into rumor territory. The next five smartphones don't have release dates in the next few weeks. Instead they will likely be released later in the year. These are the smartphones that consumers absolutely need to keep their eye on because they are likely going to be the best smartphones of the year.

We'll start with the next iPhone, currently dubbed, iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is rumored to feature a lot of things including:

    • 4.5-inch to 5.5-inch display

    • A8 processor

    • High-powered camera

    • iOS 8

    • Sapphire display

The iPhone 6 is still very much a moving piece of hardware and nothing is set in stone. What is all but confirmed though is an arrival during one of Apple's usual launch windows. Rumors point to either summer or the fall which means that consumers have a long wait ahead of them.

From the looks of things, for many, the iPhone 6 will have been worth the wait.

While agreeing with you that the Note 3 should have been in the top seven, I’m looking for a good phone for my daughter who is going off to college.
I found this article useful in that regard. I will be looking at the Note 3 as well. You really can’t go wrong, recently, with anything from Samsung! I’ll probably will end up getting her a Note 4 or iPhone 6 w/ it comes out.
      Thanks for the reminder!

Nexus 6 eh? so a 6inch screen? Doubt it. Probably a repeat of the Nexus 5 (2013 vs 2014). I would have got a Nexus 5 2013 but it lacked one feature the other top phones had, an IR Blaster. I’m going with HTC One 2014 because I like the all metal unibody feel… like what is found on my HTC One S… and it and that phone is still going strong two years later.

I think my BIGGEST interest is, will the Galaxy note 4 have the AMOLED display. I always thought it to be SAMSUNGS #1 dealing point. But the last device I bought from them, the note 2014, did not have an AMOLED display. So, that is my biggest concert. Will Samsung continue the AMOLED display? And if the answer is no, then the question would become. Who will pick up the OLED display? As I don’t think it has to be Active Matrix, to be gorgeous. And Samsung does not hold the rights to a ‘regular’ OLED display.

Wow I cannot believe they release a new version of any phone nowadays every freaking year. I shelve out and spend my entire paycheck and only to last for a year? We should get discounts as far as buying towards the newer let’s day galaxy s4 version so I can get the s5 for cheap and with discount.
