Top Seller: Save Almost $1000 on Lenovo X200 Tablet PC

Published

image Allegiance Technology Partners’ John Hill just pointed out some fantastic savings when ordering Lenovo’s Top Seller SKU’s vs their Build To Order / CTO. There have always been good savings with those sku’s, but I don’t recall seeing them as steep.

The 7449EKU sku sells for $2199, but when built out with the same specs at Lenovo.com you’ll pay $3167.

The 744988U sku sells for $1949, but when built out with the same specs at Lenovo.com you’ll pay just $2737.

Those Top Seller skus are good at all Lenovo resellers, but I’d encourage you to check out Allegiance Technology Partners.

It is worth noting that HP has similar bundling strategies with their Smart Buy skus.

I’ve always bought the SKU versions of their tablets. Out of curiosity, is there any significance to the ‘SKU’? Is it an acronym of some sort or is it just arbitrary letters indicating some kind of pre-built system? I don’t know if there’s an available answer to that–it’s just a question I’ve had about it.

SKU is standard item abbreviation for “Stock Keeping Unit” that is used by many companies

    Rob,

I think a correction should be made to your post as the both model specs by Allegiance Technologies are not entirely correctly placed on the site. In the specs it is written that a DVD-RW is included in the X200 tablet model!!! As far as I know there has never been a optical drive in a Lenovo tablet. Either the specs are mistaken for the X200 laptop or the the product does not hold true to its presentation (in other words, something fishy is going on).

    Medic,

I just took a look at the Alliance site, and noticed it comes with the “UltraBase” which would allow the computer to have a DVD-RW. Just thought I’d pass that on.

@Media, as Joel points as well, the Top Seller sku comes with an Ultra Base, so that is why it includes the CD DVD

But that’s not fair. Why do not any of the SKUs offer SSDs? If they offered even a 64GB SSD with the 4GB RAM, I’d take it. Do you know of any other resellers, giving the same discount deal, that do?

Beware, this offer is not entirely real. Lenovo continues to have fulfillment problems. While resellers may quote Lenovo's 2-3 week estimated ship date (and then double it when Lenovo later does), some have yet to see their first unit, so they are speculating.

Directly ordering from Lenovo appears to be working better. While some CTO customers have also experienced repeatedly retreating ship dates, delivery is at least actually occurring. And you can influence your queue priority.

Bottom line, unless a reseller has units in stock, ordering via reseller, while less expensive, apparently involves a larger and uncertain delay.

It's interesting to see which web sites are now saying "2-3 weeks", which "Call for availability", and which are listing few if any X200 models at all.

i ordered a unit 4 weeks ago and still have not received it. have been in contact with a rep and she assures me its being worked on and on its way, but her last ETA was two weeks ago and nothing since then. she claims shes been requesting new ETAs for a couple weeks now but not reply from the company. should i be worried its just a scam and i might not ever recieve it at all? or does it just take longer than expected and it is truely “on its way” ?
