Turn Your Jailbroken iPhone or iPad into a Mirror

Published

on

Many of us use our front-facing cameras on our smartphones as a mirror in order to prevent embarrassing moments, like a fly-away hair or something that’s smudged on your face. If you don’t carry around an actual mirror, your phone’s camera is the next best thing, but you’re probably not using it to its full mirror-like potential.

Ravirajm, iOS developer and jailbreak app maker, released a quick and easy jailbreak tweak just recently that takes better advantage of the front-facing camera on the iPhone and iPad. The tweak is called Ayna and it can be downloaded from Cydia for free.

If you didn’t know, “ayna” means “mirror” in several languages, including Turkish and Kurdish. Essentially, the tweak takes the front-facing camera image and magnifies it slightly so that you can get up close without bring your phone right up to your face. More importantly, Ayna gets rid of all the clutter of the iOS camera interface and replaces it with a simple full-screen experience.

Once you have the tweak downloaded and installed, all you have to do to activate it is to tap and hold down on the camera icon on the lock screen. Then, to go back, you just tap on the yellow triangle at the bottom. It’s a quick, easy and simple jailbreak tweak that doesn’t add anything to the user interface and is hidden away until it needs to be used, which is the best type of jailbreak tweak, in our opinion.

Unfortunately, your iOS devices does need to be jailbroken in order for Ayna to work, but we have a convenient guide that you can follow that will guide you through the process, and we highly recommend jailbreaking, although you do it at your own risk, so if you don’t feel comfortable with it, then we’d recommend staying away.

Of course, Ayna is just one of the tons of jailbreak tweaks that you can install on your iPhone or iPad, and we’ve already covered a few jailbreak tweaks that we think you should give a try, even including ones that you have to pay for.
