US To Say No to In-Flight Mobile Phone Use

Published

Looks like the friendly skies will remain cell phone free, for at least awhile. The Telegraph is reporting that the FAA, for the “foreseeable future” is not going to the use of mobile phones on airplanes in the US. The reason most stated of course is safety, but I can’t help but think that the annoyance factor of folks talking on their phones may play a part in this as well. With a number of non-US carriers starting to allow the use of cell phones in Europe and Asia, there is as much opposition to allowing it as there is to letting customers connect while flying.

I’m not sure how I feel about this, although I strongly sympathize with those who don’t want to be annoyed by other passengers on a call. What are your thoughts?
