Verizon Galaxy Nexus Price Drops on Heels of Jelly Bean Update

Published

on

On the heels of its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has seen its price drop today all the way down to $50 on-contract at Verizon.

The price drop comes the week after Verizon finally pushed out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the device, an update that makes it an extremely attractive option for those looking to get a quality new smartphone, especially at this price.

Verizon’s price drop, first reported by Droid-Life, is a $50 drop off of its normal price of $100 on-contract. The $50 drop is labeled under promo which means that it could be a temporary drop. We imagine that if it sells well at this price point, Verizon might be included to keep it at $50, especially with a host of new devices on the way.

The price of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has dropped.

The carrier has a number of new devices on the way including the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Droid Incredible X, Lumia 920 and HTC 8X Windows Phone, and the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD.

Verizon also just launched the iPhone 5.

By dropping the price of the Galaxy Nexus, Verizon can clean out some units ahead of these launches.

There is also speculation surrounding a potential launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 which has popped up in rumors and in sample images. However, potential carriers and a possible launch date remain a complete and utter mystery.

As for the Galaxy Nexus, it just got its upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest software and it features a massive HD display, dual-core processor, serviceable cameras, and 4G LTE speeds.

At $50, it’s certainly a device worth looking at and it’s still nearly a year later, one of the best Android smartphones on the market.
