The Verizon Galaxy Nexus, which is still without its upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, has been listed with an update “Coming Soon” for going on a month now at Verizon Wireless.

At the end of February, it was revealed that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus support page, which lists the contents and benefits of software upgrades for the device, listed an update as “Coming Soon.” As we’ve seen with numerous other Verizon Android update roll outs, that often means that a software upgrade is coming soon.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is still without Android 4.2, even with a software update promised for a month now.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is still without Android 4.2, even with a software update promised for a month now.

Not in the case of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, however. Unlike its ilk, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has been listed with a software upgrade “Coming Soon” for the past month. As we told you, the moniker was not visible on the Galaxy Nexus’ support page back on February 8th according to the Wayback Machine. However, it did show up in that month as a cached version of the site showed it live as of February 17th.

So that means that at some point between the 8th and 17th of February, Verizon listed the Galaxy Nexus as getting a software update soon. A month later though, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is still without an update and even worse, still without its upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, many weeks after Sprint updated its Galaxy Nexus.

In the weeks since Verizon said an update was coming soon, we’ve seen a couple of interesting things happen. One, the Asus Transformer Pad 300 beat the Verizon Galaxy Nexus to a Jelly Bean update for the second time with Asus updating its Transformer Pad 300 ahead of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.1.

Additionally, we saw the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 update leak out ahead of its release. The update is, evidently in the hands of testers, a sign that the update is closer than ever.

But given that Verizon has listed the Galaxy Nexus as getting an update soon for the past month, it remains entirely unclear as to when the device may be getting its new software, which is more than likely Android 4.2.

One thing is for certain though: A month, for most people, is not the definition of soon. But alas, in the world of Android, particularly with Verizon, soon is a very ambiguous word.

Hopefully, Verizon makes good on its promise and delivers a Verizon Galaxy Nexus update soon, after all, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is rumored to be coming at Google I/O in May.

I HATE Apple products by may end up with the iPhone 6!

I am SICK of waiting forever for updates; my S2 has been shutting down 4 or 5 times a day since the last update and they will never fix it!

At least Apple updates EVERY version of their phone every time!

I’m going to ATT or Sprint screw Verizon. The wireless division used to be good. But looks like the monkeys running the landline and cable divisions are taking over wireless. We should band together and start a class action lawsuit. They sold us a bad bill of goods! I’m up in September can’t wait to switch providers!
