Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Price Finally Sees Discount

Published

on

At the end of November, Verizon finally unleashed its version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet after a lengthy wait. And up until today, the only way to get a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 was to pay $299.99 on-contract through Verizon, a price that was and is extremely expensive for a smartphone. Those looking to get it at a cheaper price today are in luck as today, the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 appeared at Amazon.

Amazon, which is notorious for discounting its smartphone stock, is offering the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 for a cheaper price than Verizon. The discount isn’t huge, but it’s certainly worth taking a look at. Amazon is currently selling the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 for $279.99, $20 cheaper than Verizon’s price tag. While the discount isn’t huge, it’s the first of its kind.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 has finally been discounted.

The best part is that the discount applies to both those who are looking to sign a new contact and to those that are thinking about upgrading to the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 at some point soon.

While it would be nice to see the device check in with a much cheaper price tag, AT&T’s Galaxy Note 2 is currently $249.99 on Amazon as opposed to $299.99 directly from the carrier, don’t expect the price to make another plunge in the imminent future. Not only is the Galaxy Note 2 a hot commodity, selling over five million units worldwide already, but Verizon’s model runs on the carrier’s 4G LTE network which just so happens to be the largest 4G LTE network in the land.

Verizon’s 4G LTE network is currently available in over 400 markets around the United States and the roll out will be completed by the middle of 2013. The carrier has yet to supply a final date.

Besides the 4G LTE advantage, the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is similar to the other models that launched in the United States. It features a 5.5-inch HD display, a quad-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, a Galaxy S3 inspired design and solid cameras.

I got mine at a company store in San Diego for $250 on Dec 3. I was also renewing my plan. Don’t know why I got it for this price as they originally said it would be $300 but at checkout time they said, “Oh, hey, lookee here…” and I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I picked mine up on a Black Friday sale with T-Mobile. They offered at $299.95 with a $100 rebate. They also had a $50 gift card for switching phone number to their service. My final price will be $149.95.
