Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Will Feature Unique Home Button

Published

on

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 will likely feature release date and pricing different from the rest of the Galaxy Note 2 models heading to the U.S., but it’s now confirmed to have at least one thing unique about it. Its home button.

Several weeks ago, a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 leaked to the surface sporting what appeared to be a Verizon-branded home button. Many chalked up it as either a sticker or the fact that the phone was a prototype but as it turns out, the Verizon-branded home button is the real deal.

Samsung just put up press shots of all of the Galaxy Note 2 devices and very clearly, on the press image, we can see a Verizon logo displayed firmly on the home button itself. None of the other carriers have such a button and the only other difference we’ve found is the lack of a Sprint logo on the back of its Galaxy Note 2. All of the other devices have their logos on the back.

Here is the Verizon Galaxy Note 2.

Of course, for many, this won’t be too big of a deal but for many others, this kind of cosmetic difference, especially on something as important as the device’s home button, might be an annoyance. Verizon is known for exerting control over its devices and it appears that the Galaxy Note 2 will not be any different.

We also imagine that the Verizon version of the device will be the only version of the Galaxy Note 2 that comes with a locked bootloader though that, at the moment, remains unconfirmed.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 will likely go up for pre-order tonight at midnight though we aren’t quite sure when the carrier might release the Galaxy Note 2. Thus far, we’ve heard that it might not be shipping out until November 29th, which could mean with some kind of Black Friday deal. At this point though, we’re unsure if that’s the case and hope that Verizon releases it sooner.

We do know that the carrier will likely release the phone for $299.99 on-contract whenever it does arrive.

Well then, I’m glad my upgrade isn’t until 12/4. Perfect timing if it releases 11/25.

My dilemma now is whether I shell out the $650 to get a Note II and keep my unlimited data plan, yeah I average 40GB of data month, or get it on an upgrade and modify my usage to get on a tiered data plan. Ugh, I want a Note II so bad. Of course option #3 is to just keep my Razr Maxx and be happy. Oh yeah, I’m a concession account so I get an upgrade every 9 months that’s why I’m eligible and don’t have that bad of a phone. Verizon unlimited is true unlimited, not like that garbage AT&T passes for unlimited, so that is like a priceless thing to have in reality. Who knows what even more data intensive phones might come out in the future. Then again Verizon could decide that even without getting an upgrade you lose unlimited, they could do that too if they wanted. Then I’d feel really stupid for having shelled out full retail just to keep it.

Ugh, so much speculation and conjecture. Everything is just soooooo grey. Check out my blog post about my Galaxy Note II/ unlimited data dilemma at…….. https://www.gosellcrazy.com/2012/10/cellphonedilemma/

If you have a friend or relative that doesn’t want to upgrade & they are eligible just have them to use their upgrade to buy the note 2 for the contract price. Then get it activated on your acct. That’s what im doing my girlfriends mom has been eligible for upgrade for like 15 years so I doubt she will be using it anytime soon haha That’s your 4th option & the best one if you have any older relatives.

I can’t believe it, but I too feel compelled to choose another carrier which hasn’t branded the damn home button. It does bother me THAT much! I’ve been with Big Red for quite some time, always happy with customer service….why put us in such a dilemma with these annoyances?!

There is a home button aluminum home button sold on eBay for the note 2, that you just paste right over the factory home button, it’s like $10 for 3 of them, they come in different color silver, black, blue, pink, purple and even with little stone for those girly girls. Like a lot of people I prefer not to have the verizon logo on the home button, it was not a deal breaker to me or too big of a deal, but I do prefer not to have the logo on the front, I think it takes away from the beauty of the device. I found a solution and I thought I’d share. Anyway, my real concern and I’m so very frustrated at Verizon for making us wait another Month!!!!!! Plus those like me that still have the unlimited data plan will have to give it up to get the two year price. I am so truly frustrated, come on verizon release the note 2 already!!!!

The logo botched the smooth design of the phone. I was going to pay full price to upgrade and upgrade to the Note2 but im going to stick with my current phone.

Samsung has been relatively prompt and punctual regarding their Android 4.0 updates, which is good news for Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note owners. The international version of the Galaxy S II received it’s update in March, and now check out 5 New Features added in the AT&T Galaxy Note Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update

I guess nobody has noticed that Verizon puts there logo on the front o every phone, excpet maybe the s3 and iphones. I think this is business as usual, and using the home button was probably the easiest way to accomplish this given the note 2 layout and timing… The logo has been sitting just above the buttons on my Droid X for almost 3 years and has nto caused me any grief. Just more of us always wanting to complain about something, the product sponges we are… I am more worried about the late release date myself…
