Verizon Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Update Leaks

Published

on

On the heels of the Sprint Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update roll out comes good news for the Verizon Galaxy S3 as it appears that a leaked Jelly Bean build has emerged, a sign that Verizon is not only hard at work on the update but that a roll out could be around the corner.

The update, which appeared on XDA-Developers forums, courtesy of member jucytec, is Jelly Bean build I535VRBLI5 for the Verizon Galaxy S3. Those looking to install it, and at this point we recommend that you don’t, will need to have an unlocked bootloader and a rooted device and good knowledge of flashing ROMs.

Those that don’t meet those requirements will just have to wait for the official build to roll out which, again, could be coming up soon given that Sprint has already released the software for its Galaxy S3.

The Verizon Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update has leaked.

While the update is currently available to those that wish to take the plunge, it appears that some users are experiencing issues, so we, as always, recommend waiting either for an extremely stable version of Jelly Bean or for the official Jelly Bean update itself.

According to jucytec, this is apparently not the final build nor is it the latest build. That is actually a good thing as it means that Verizon is making progress. This version apparently was built in early October and another was sent to Verizon to approval and if approved, the update could roll out in three weeks. That’s a rumor so treat it like one at this point.

In any event, it is a good sign as it means that Verizon is currently working on the update and that means progress. And progress typically translates into an eventual roll out. So, hopefully Verizon is able to get this out in a quicker manner than usual.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a huge upgrade over the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software that is currently running on the AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon versions of the the Galaxy S3.

It brings a faster, smoother UI to the table, Google Now, more camera features, an improved browser and calendar, a new Google app drawer and a whole lot more. It will certainly be worth the wait.

I’m really hoping that update 4.1.1 fixes my USB issue. I always get that “device has stopped…” message whenever transferring files over to or from my phone. It’s really annoying and frustrating.

You should try Airdroid. It allows you to sync your files from your PC to your phone via WiFi. The phone and the PC just have to be on the same wireless network. You transfer files through any web browser. Super simple to use.
