The Verizon HTC One, which didn’t show up at launch, and was thought to be in testing with a release at some point down the road, has been pegged for a surprise release in March alongside the AT&T and Sprint models, replacing the Droid DNA.

Earlier this week, we heard that the Verizon HTC One was indeed the real deal, and not just a rumor. The device was said to be in testing which meant that it wouldn’t be coming until after AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile launched their versions of the HTC One. A previous rumor suggested that it would not be arriving for three to four months from now.

Not so fast, according to a piece of evidence, courtesy of Droid-Life. Walmart, one of the biggest retailers in the world, apparently thinks that the Verizon HTC One release will be coming in March and that the device will replace the Droid DNA on shelves. The Droid DNA was Verizon’s first 1080p smartphone, and launched back in November just after Black Friday.

Interestingly, the T-Mobile model is not mentioned here which is a cause for concern, as is the release date given that Verizon did not reveal itself to be a launch partner back in February. Perhaps HTC and Verizon came to terms in the days since launch, perhaps Verizon’s testing went smoother than expected. Or maybe this piece of evidence isn’t accurate.

It clearly says though that the HTC One will be coming to Verizon in March though no specific dates for any of the devices is listed. Remember, the U.S. release is not expected to be affected by the HTC One release date delay that is affecting other regions around the world.

Thus far though, none of the carriers have announced an HTC One release date. And with the rumored March 22nd release date approaching, it’s unclear if that day will come and go without a release.

If this is true, look for Verizon to confirm the device in the next few days or weeks and possibly quietly knock the price of the Droid DNA down or maybe even discontinue it.

The HTC One is HTC’s latest flagship and it offers a 4.7-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, Ultrapixel camera, 4G LTE data speeds, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 5.0. It will be the first device to arrive with HTC’s new Sense 5.0 skin.
