Verizon HTC One Release Rumors Swirl

Published

on

The Verizon HTC One, which has been announced, but still isn’t out on shelves, has seen release rumors swirl in recent days with one insider claiming that it could be out in three to four weeks, meaning sometime in July, and some Verizon consumers claiming that Verizon representatives have said that it will be out before the end of June.

Several weeks ago, Verizon announced the HTC One after months of rumors of speculation. However, as many consumers know, the carrier decided to announce only a minimal amount of details in regards to its launch. Instead of confirming features, pricing or a release date, HTC and Verizon only confirmed that it would arrive sometime this summer.

The Verizon HTC One release date remains up in the air.

The Verizon HTC One release date remains up in the air.

Since then, the Verizon HTC One release date has been sought after by those in the market for a new device and those trying to pair the HTC One with the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.

So far, neither rumors, nor HTC or Verizon have provided a clear date, something that unfortunately remains the case today. However, what we have seen are some swirling release rumors that may provide a little insight as to what to expect from the Verizon HTC One release.

Noted HTC leakster @LlabTooFeR claims that the Verizon HTC One will still be hitting shelves, despite worried consumers, and that it should be touching down around three to four weeks from June 22nd. That puts it squarely inside the month of July. We have also heard, and seen, information that suggests that Verizon may be planning a release before June is over.

According to several prospective Verizon HTC One buyers, Verizon reps have said that it will be out before the end of June. Verizon representatives are known to be hit or miss with information so it’s impossible to say if that’s true at this point. And with Verizon refusing to confirm a date for the device at this point, it doesn’t make the situation any more clear.

What these rumors do point to though is a Verizon HTC One release before August. All along August has seen as an unlikely candidate and fortunately, rumors seem to be pointing to June or July for a release.

Of course, nothing is set in stone until it’s set in stone by HTC and Verizon and at this point, there is no telling when that announcement may come to anxious users.

I’ll give them another week too announce something, and then I’m picking up a S4. My three-year-old Droid Incredible is on the ropes, to the point that I can’t even hang up a call or reply to a text in a timely matter anymore.

I’m in the same boat! I’m thinking of exercising the warranty on my Droid Incredible to buy some time, but it’s also a lot of work :(

I spoke with two Verizon Wireless stores and they told me in August or towards the end of August. They were told this by HTC reps that came into their store. I do not thank I will wait that long.

Another, “Who knows when it will really release on Verizon”, article…well IMO Verizon missed the boat as everyone else is already offering it at discounts.

I was starting to worry – no article yesterday!

I’ve taken this opportunity to look at other carriers. I called VZW to ask about disabling my line and I’ve been exploring AT&T’s website. In other words actively doing preparatory legwork to make the jump.

If there’s no news by 4th of July then I’m jumping to AT&T. Like ovy13 I’m still using my original DInc and wayyy past time for an upgrade. I’ve been stringing along for a year watching the handsets I actually like go to other carriers. No more.

What baffles me is that by the time Verizon gets around to releasing the HTC One, it’ll be old technology. HTC announced the One in F-ing February, IT’S ALMOST JULY. That’s years in the tech industry. I just don’t get it.

Verizon invites people to defect to AT&T. AT&T is rapidly improving their LTE services in many markets. Verizon is showing clear indifference to it’s current customers. Anyone looking for a “current” phone is forced to buy an S4 with inadequate RAM or another device from another carrier – or wait. Even an Apple 5S and/or iOS 7.0 in September (optimistically) will not keep people hanging in there. HTC has shown that they are desperate to make the HTC one a major success – so I can’t imagine they are not helping Verizon at every juncture. The only “rational” guess I can come up with is that Verizon has so much stock of older phones they can’t afford to stock the newer ones. Subsidies on new phones eat up their bottom lines.

This is why contracts are bad for consumers. It gives the illusion that you must stay with your current carrier. Well, I have had cell phones continuously since 1990, and have been with almost every carrier at some point. They all mess things up for themselves at some point and a new “king” emerges. Looks like it’s Verizon’s time to hand the torch to someone else.

The Google version of the HTC one is out tomorrow. Its unlocked and therefore contract free – and contracts make these cell companies get lazy.

If I can get a hold of one, i’ll order it and add it to my AT&T account (I have Verizon and AT&T phones). I will then forget Verizon for my personal phone svce.

Enough of Verizon. They are getting close to AT&T in SF Bay area coverage, and I have waited long enough. From then on, it will be who carries the right equipment and when. It really annoys me how they have handled this, and speaks volumes about what VZ really thinks of its customers. A few bucks here or there isn’t going to matter to me, and less to VZ – but perhaps others will do the same.

I currently have the droid bionic, and have had it since its release. Then Verizon screwed me by releasing the droid razor a month later that had a bunch of new better features than my phone. Now I’ve been wanting the htc one but came to realize that they don’t have it…ugh. My phone is on its last leg, I need a new one desperately, and I can’t leave because I’m grandfathered in with unlimited data for $30. I don’t want the s4 and I’m not giving in to apple. Stuck, I hate Verizon right now.
