Verizon HTC One Still Coming, Says Insider

Published

on

The Verizon HTC One, which didn’t make an appearance at Verizon’s CTIA event yesterday, it still said to be coming with an announcement taking place at a later date.

Yesterday, all eyes were on Verizon and its live stream as it took the stage at CTIA Las Vegas to make an announcement. The two most logical theories were an announcement about the company’s VoLTE network or an announcement in regards to the company’s still missing HTC One. Neither came to fruition and instead, Verizon and Jennifer Lopez touted the launch of the new Viva Movil.

The Verizon HTC One remains possible.

The Verizon HTC One remains possible.

Suffice to say, this announcement led to head scratching from consumers and the media alike who were left stunned when the event ended without an HTC One launch. Frustrated consumers have been voicing their concern over the past 24 hours and while we still don’t have a device, there is still some hope left for a Verizon HTC One launch.

Noted HTC leakster @LLabTooFeR, in response to a question about the HTC One’s whereabouts, claims that the device will be announced later. That seems to hint at an eventual arrival though he doesn’t elaborate, leaving a release date or even a release window wide open. Remember, this is the same person that proclaimed that the Verizon HTC One launch was coming in the “near future”.

When that near future might be is unclear. With the Samsung Galaxy S4 now out on shelves, and the iPhone 5S and Galaxy Note 3 thought to be coming in the fall, there is quite a bit of room for another smartphone launch on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

However, it’s not clear how the HTC One will fit into that release window or whether Verizon will simply opt to offer a new Droid DNA with the HTC Butterfly 2 rumored for arrival in the third quarter of this year.

At this point, it appears that at least one person still thinks the Verizon HTC One is going to be coming to shelves and fortunately, that person is privy to inside details at HTC. Keep in mind, initial whispers pegged the Verizon HTC One for launch one to two months after the others and given that the other HTC One models hit the U.S. in late April, June looks like a good month for a launch as well.

Verizon has a great network, but they are always last to get new phones. I might have to take my $250 a month phone bill money to someone else. Sick of Verizon always being last when it comes to having the newest tech.

I was recently at a HTC One kiosk booth in the mall. The guys at the booth sounded confident that there would be no HTC One announcement on Verizon’s May 22 big news day. I got a vibe they wanted to tell me something, but couldn’t. One of the guys did toss July 4th weekend in our BSing conversation, as well made a remark that it “could” be a silent release. Whatever that means. So for know my fingers are crossed for July 4th!

I don’t know why everybody gets all excited over HTC leakster @LLabTooFeR, posts.
He has not been, is not, and will not be accurate in his postings. He has been wrong all along in every one of his posts re: the One.

HTC commented at CITA, that they have NO plans at this time for a One on Verizon.

It’s not coming soon. Probably nothing will happen until Nov.

It’s official. The One doesn’t and will not exist for a long time.
