Although I agree with you Ol1, it may seem silly to pay for VZ Navigator when you can have Google Maps with Nav for free on your phone, I wanted to test out which one is honestly better… especially in Dallas Forth Worth, so I gave the free trial a chance.

Hands down the VZ Navigator is a far superior product, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY.  I did cancel my service before I had to pay.  The Dallas highways are horrible about lanes and exits going every which way but loose, and I have to admit, having the lane guidance would have been great to a causal visitor in the DFW area.  The 3D buildings looked nicer than the ones on Google Maps do, and the interface is truly polished and was a pleasure to use.

Would I subscribe to it full time, heck no!  Would I subscribe to it if I were taking my family on a road trip?  Certainly!  My wife loved the lane guidance feature, and the ease of use.

Do I prefer one over the other?  Of course I do!  I like free….LOL!  However I certainly do not think that someone who is older, doesnt have GPS in their vehicle, and wants a single solution, could do a LOT worse than VZ Navigator….  to call someone an idiot because they do not like how google maps with Navigation works makes you seem like the idiot, just my two cents worth.
