Video: Android 4.0 on the Kindle Fire

If you’ve been waiting to see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich fired up on Amazon’s Kindle Fire, today is your lucky day. Liliputing has released an extensive video walkthrough of the software, in a very buggy state, on Amazon’s $199 tablet and it gives us a fantastic look at Google’s latest and greatest software. Keep in mind, this is an early build based on CyanogenMod 9.

That of course means that there is a long way to go before we can recommend throwing it on your Kindle Fire. However, if you’re insanely curious or if you’re a developer, you can get it going right now.

Normally, Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet has a heavily modified version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board. So, what you’ll see here is a vast departure from that. And, as we’ve said, this isn’t a finalized version in the slightest.

Video doesn’t work, audio doesn’t work normally yet, and it is apparently littered with other glitches and bugs. But, that’s not really the point. The point is, this is Android 4.0 running on the Amazon Fire, an update that may never officially come to Amazon’s tablet because of how much Amazon would have to alter it to get it to function properly.

Remember, the Kindle Fire’s OS is tied in directly with Amazon’s services.

While we suggest grabbing some popcorn and watching the video before a more stabalized version of this is released, we know that we can’t stop you all.
