Voyager Mobile Plans Start at $19, Service Coming Soon

There’s a new carrier in town and it’s using Sprint’s network to offer inexpensive phone plans with no contracts.

Voyager Mobile was ready to launch today offering plans starting at $19 a month, but the carrier had to push back the launch. The delay is due to a “malicious network attack to its primary website.” The carrier will bounce back, however, with the service coming to market “in the very near future.”

Plans for Voyager Mobile start at just $19 a month for unlimited talk and text. The price goes up to $39 a month for unlimited talk, text, and web.

Like Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile, Voyager Mobile uses Sprint’s 3G and 4G WiMAX networks. The $39 a month plan includes the faster WiMAX speeds as long as users live in a WiMAX area and are willing to pay for the WiMAX phones.

The carrier will offer some older Sprint devices when it does finally launch. Those phones include the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, LG Optimus S, Motorola XPRT, and Samsung Conquer 4G. As with all prepaid services, users will need to pay more for the phones upfront, but they won’t have to sign any contracts, and they pay less per month for the service.

Voyager Mobile also plans to offer Voyage Rewards to reward users for using their phones. By talking on their phones, Voyager Mobile users will get points they can redeem for airline miles, gift cards, phone upgrades, and free service. It sounds almost too good to be true, but there’s no way to check out the terms of Voyager Rewards until the website is up and running again.
