Weston Middle School goes Tablet PC

Weston Middle School in Weston, Connecticut will be the first school in its district to implement Tablet PCs. Their Tablet PCs will be connected to an interactive whiteboard allowing their students to participate with their teachers on a more interactive level.

I’d love to see a paper from the people who implemented this system at WIPTE next year.

Weston Middle School is home to the town’s approximately 607 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. As of Aug. 18, the school was expecting 210 students in grade six, 194 in grade seven, and 203 in grade eight.

“A great deal of planning has taken place this summer, and we are ready for opening next week,” said Lisa Wolak, principal at the middle school. “I’m looking forward to an exciting and challenging year.”

The middle school will be the first in the district to pilot new PC Tablet technology in some of its classrooms. The tablets are individual laptop computers that work in conjunction with a main interactive whiteboard. Five systems are expected to be installed within the next few weeks, Ms. Wolak said.

“That’s really exciting for us. We can’t wait,” she said.
