Taking your smartphone on an overseas trip can be an easy way to stay in touch while traveling, but there are plenty of horror stories about data usage skyrocketing due to miscommunication, user error and unintentional connectivity. With more and more users switching over to smartphones and taking them with them while they travel, these tips are even more important.

Tips For International Travel With a Smartphone

The key is to make sure that you don’t unintentionally use data. The video from Verizon includes some helpful tips including disabling widget access and what settings you need to change to make sure that you don’t go overboard on data.

If you do plan to use data while traveling overseas, Verizon will send you text messages when you hit certain dollar levels so that you aren’t surprised by a huge bill when you get home.

    Good commercial to Verizon… but they are very expensive!!! It is better to pre paid international SIM card from companies like Xcom global or iphonetrip…. their services are good and much cheaper!!
