Where is Google Drive for iPhone and iPad?
At the end of April, Google SVP of Chrome and Apps Sundar Pichai said that Google Drive for iPhone and iPad was 98 percent done and that it would be arriving “soon.” Well, we are now in the month of June and Google has yet to release the software or even give a hint as to when the software will be arriving.
Currently, Google Drive is only available to users of Android smartphones and tablets meaning the millions upon millions if iOS users who have signed up for Google’s service can only use it from a computer or through a third-party application.
Google’s Google Drive website offers no other information other than to say that the software will be coming soon.

Go figure. Google launches a massive new product, one that people actually seem to like, and its half-baked.
Keep in mind this is a service that had been rumored not for weeks not for months but for years so you would think that Google would have gotten its act together and released this service for iPhone and iPad users right off the bat.
After all, that’s a pretty big user base that it’s missing out on and one would think that they would help Google gain traction amongst the many cloud-storage competitors out there.

And today, in typical Google fashion, the company announced a new Google Maps that will be “coming soon” to iOS and Android devices.
Frankly, it’s an act that’s getting tiresome.
Anyone else as annoyed as I am about the wait for Google Drive for iPhone and iPad?

Probably blocked in the Apple approval queue, or stuck in the infinite queue of “rejected because mimicking iCloud function”

Who cares. It’s probably Apple’s insatiable hurdles for any Google software. Have fun in your walled garden. Too bad only people who Apple likes can get in. Enjoy yourself. Apple is the new IBM.

OMG, chill. It’s not Apple blocking an App that has nothing to do with what Apple is doing. Apple started iDisk almost 10 years ago and discontinued it a couple of years ago.
It’s understandable Google prioritizes their own platform over Apple’s. They’ll eventually release it for iOS. It’s probably just another web wrapper anyway.

Yes! it is a big disappointment. Our company just switched to Google Apps and most of the executive staff use the iDisk feature on their iPhone and iPads, but Apple is eliminating the iDisk :-/

It is probably because of Apple. they always hold up Google products. Wish Google would of tried to get the app approved sooner so we wouldn’t be waiting so long!

Thanks for the story, I have been looking for information on this since the announcement. It’s been frustrating since we have asked clients to use the Google Drive feature on projects. Some of these people have i-phones or i-pads others have Android or Blackberry’s. I have said all along that the Apple devices are not for business applications and this is a perfect example. We are waiting on the new Microsoft OS and tables, hope there is better integration of cloud and apps.

This hold up is really frustrating. I’m involved in a new company that we’ve decided to use Google drive and all it’s features from the get go. Being able to fully utilise the features in a native iOS application is critical for us moving forward. It’s only one of the staff with their horrendously cheap Android tab who can use it properly right now.

Forget the app store, release it in Cydia. It was probably Google stupid attempt to show the iOS community that they would be supported. We are also still waiting for Google Plus native iPad app. When will some new innovation come out that will cause the pendulum to swing away from Google?? Google is not the same company as it was when people first started to rely on their services.
