Why You Should Wait for the iPhone 6c

If you’re not sure if you should buy a new iPhone now or wait a little while, here’s why you should wait for the iPhone 6c.

The iPhone 6c is currently rumored and isn’t official, but there have been several reports already that the device will launch early next year at some point, with reliable sources saying that Apple will host a March event where the company will announce the iPhone 6c.

The iPhone 6c will obviously be the successor to the iPhone 5c that Apple released back in 2013 as the cheaper option to the iPhone 5s. It featured a plastic polycarbonate shell that came in a variety of colors, and had the same specs as the iPhone 5 with a few minor upgrades.

Rumors say that the iPhone 6c will follow in similar footsteps, but it’s likely that the device will come with a metal body instead of plastic. However, it will still come in a variety of colors just like the iPhone 5c did.

If you’re currently an iPhone 5c owner, you might be looking for an upgrade soon, and since the iPhone 6 is now lower in price, it seems rather tempting, but here’s why you should wait for the iPhone 6c.

Better Performance

While the iPhone 5c’s performance was comparable to the iPhone 5, then it would make sense that the iPhone 6c’s performance was comparable to the iPhone 6, right? Well, that may not be the case this time around.

Rumors have suggested that the iPhone 6c could sport Apple’s A9 processor, which is the same chip that’s in the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6 only has the A8 processor, which is a little slower.

However, 9to5Mac has pointed out that that the iPhone 6c’s performance “will fall somewhere between the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6s,” meaning that it should compare to the iPhone 6. In any case, I think the device will likely be a bit faster and better than the iPhone 6 in some way.

Cheaper Price

The nice thing about the iPhone 5c was its lower price. It started at $549 off-contract, while the iPhone 5s started at $649 at the time, making the iPhone 5c a whole $100 cheaper than the flagship model.

We could probably expect the same thing with the iPhone 6c, but rumors have suggested that the device could be priced anywhere from $400 to $500, making the iPhone 6c even cheaper than what the iPhone 5c was priced at when it first released.

We’re not sure how Apple would get the price down so low, but past rumors have said that the iPhone 6c wouldn’t use a 3D Touch display, which is probably a big cost factor for Apple, so that easily could shave productions costs quite a bit for the iPhone 6c.

4-Inch Screen

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons as to why you should wait for the iPhone 6c is that it’s rumored to come with a 4-inch display.

Apple increased the size of its iPhone screen starting with the iPhone 6, which has a 4.7-inch screen, but many users still prefer the smaller display, so the iPhone 6c could be the perfect device for those who enjoy having a slightly smaller screen, while still having better performance than the iPhone 5s, which was the last device to sport a 4-inch screen.

Improved Camera

There’s always one thing you can count on when a new iPhone releases, and that’s an improved camera.

Here's a look at the iPhone 6c release rumors and details.

With every new iPhone, Apple always updates camera so that it takes better photos and videos, and they even updated the camera in the iPhone 5c, even though pretty much everything else remained the same as the iPhone 5.

It’s likely that the iPhone 6c will see a camera boost that could match the iPhone 6s, with maybe some minor things left out, but that’s something will certainly have to wait and see on.

In the end, while you may spring for the iPhone 6 right now, the iPhone 6c might be a better buy, especially if you’re looking for a low-cost device with a smaller screen.

It “won’t” be “low priced” by any reasonable comparison. It “will” be as low spec as possible at the highest price the market will bear.
