Why You Shouldn’t Buy the 32GB iPhone 7

Published

on

The 32GB iPhone 7 is tempting but many of you will be better off buying another version of the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

Last year, Apple took the stage and confirmed two brand new iPhone models to replace the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus as its flagships.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus feature numerous upgrades including improved designs, cameras, processors, battery life, and more.

Apple’s also changed how it handles storage. The 16GB iPhone is finally gone and in its place is a 32GB iPhone 7.

The 32GB iPhone 7 is the cheapest option and its accompanied by the 128GB iPhone 7 and a much larger 256GB iPhone 7.

The storage bump and the cheap price make the 32GB versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus attractive options.

That said, there are a few reasons to avoid Apple’s base model. Chew on these reasons as you try and decide which iPhone 7 model to pickup.

If you can afford the 128GB iPhone 7 or the 256GB iPhone 7, you should opt for one of those instead. Here’s why.

32GB simply isn’t going to be enough storage for many of you. Many apps require hundreds of megabytes of space. Individually, that doesn’t seem like much. Collectively, it’s a ton. And apps are just the beginning of the potential nightmare.

Want to shoot a bunch of 4K video? You’d better have a ton of space because they’ll fill up your storage quick.

We’ve constantly had to delete photos, videos and other files to make room for new photos, videos, and other files on our aging 64GB iPhone models.

It’s not just 4K video either. Regular video will take its toll on your iPhone’s storage space. So will the photos you’ll inevitably want to shoot with the iPhone 7’s fantastic camera. So will Live Photos, if you’re into those. So will the selfies you shoot with the iPhone 7’s 7MP front-facing camera.

On top of that, a standard iPhone “configuration uses approximately 4GB to 6GB of space (including iOS and built-in apps) depending on the model and settings.” So when you buy a 32GB iPhone 7 you’re essentially buying a 28GB iPhone 7.

When you pay extra for the 128GB you’re buying quadruple the storage, sure. But you’re also buying peace of mind and freedom.

You can snap photos and video at will. You can download apps and music and any other files without feeling the pressure of your device’s threshold.

And unlike some Android phones, you cannot easily add storage to the iPhone 7 later. This advice rings even more true for users who plan to keep the iPhone 7 for three or more years, as that means more photos, videos and apps to keep on the phone.

You get peace of mind with 128GB of storage.

We’ve been using a 128GB iPhone 7 since September and we haven’t had to worry about internal storage space or paying extra for iCloud storage.

The device currently boasts 50GB of free space. So we can shoot videos, save music locally, and download apps and games without giving it much thought.

iPhone-7-Problems

Friends and family have been asking us which iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to. And without hesitation we tell them to buy the 128GB iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. They provide the most value, and enough space for most users.

We don’t know how you’ll use your iPhone 7 but we’re willing to wager you’ll use apps, shoot photos and video, and download music and other files.

We’re also willing to bet that 32GB of iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus storage will fill up a whole lot faster than you think it does.

If you can afford the 128GB iPhone 7, pull the trigger. It will save you from numerous headaches and it could ultimately save you some money. Additional iCloud storage space doesn’t come free. And if you don’t get enough storage, prepare to spend money every month on the service.

Install iOS 10.3.3 If You Want Better Security

If you value your security, you'll want to seriously consider downloading the iOS 10.3.3 update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

iOS 10.3.3 brings 24 security patches addressing vulnerabilities plaguing Contacts, Messages, Notifications, and Safari.

It also includes a patch for a potentially dangerous Wi-Fi exploit dubbed "Broadpwn." That patch alone is a great reason to install iOS 10.3.3 right now or in the immediate future.

If you failed to download previous versions of iOS, your iOS 10.3.3 update will bring even more security features.

If you passed on iOS 10.3.2, iOS 10.3.3 will deliver 23 additional security patches for potentially dangerous issues.

If you skipped iOS 10.3.1, your iOS 10.3.3 update will bring its lone security patch. If you skipped iOS 10.3, iOS 10.3.3 will bring its monster list of patches to your device.

The iOS 10.3 update delivered over 60 known patches for potential exploits. That's substantial, even for a milestone upgrade.

If you skipped the iOS 10.2.1 update and/or the iOS 10.2 update, iOS 10.3.3 brings their security patches with it. The iOS 10.2.1 update had 14 important patches on board. You can see them all right here

If you failed to install Apple's iOS 9.3.5 update, iOS 10.3.3 will also bring the three crucial security patches it delivered last year. These patch up serious security problems that could potentially expose your calls, contacts, texts, and emails.

These patches enhance the security on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch making them ideal for those of you who store sensitive files/data on your device.

Mixed emotions: I have the 64GB 6+ and was disappointed there was no 64 option with the 7+. I was going to go to 128 – but I did my homework and discovered I have only used 21GB. And I’m sure I could spend 30 minutes and upload (then delete) many pictures to my MacBook Pro.
So I would recommend doing some homework before giving Apple money for storage you’ll never use.

      So, 32 gig is enough?

Since i’ve only used up 21 gb all in all in my Galaxy S5
(10 gb on internal) (11.5 on sd)

32 gb is enough as we do everything in cloud. so really i doesn’t matter which size. The size matters if only when it comes to gaming as along as you’re not a mobile gamer you go with 32 GB.

If you are a mobile gamer i don’t think it is a problem to use a 32GB version. Most of the games are under 200 MB and to save space Google photos, onedrive, Spotify helps a lot. After i take a couple of videos the phone sync with the google photos or i put it on youtube and i can delete all of them. I just I had a Note 5 before i bought my iPhone 7 Plus and until one year whith more than 3000 photos and 20 vids i still had 7 Gb free space.
