Will the iPhone 5 be the iPhone 3D?

Published

on

With the rise of 3D-capable smartphones like the HTC EVO 3D, the LG Optimus 3D and the LG Thrill 4G for AT&T, Apple may be delivering an iOS challenger in the form of an iPhone with dual-rear cameras allowing users to capture and record their memories in 3D. Newly leaked images of what is believed to be a 3D-capable iPhone 5 shows a device that not only sports the capable dual-cameras for 3D recording, but also will come with a 4-inch display with a slightly thinner bezel, and what appears to be a matte-finish sticker on the back, perhaps an Invisible Shield-like protector for the rear glass.

Update: Sadly this is not the real deal.

Along with the rear dual-cameras, the iPhone 5 3D will also sport dual LED flash, a first for the iPhone. The camera module has been moved from the corner edge to now occupy the top center of the device.

It’s unclear if Apple will implement a glasses-free 3D display with Retina Display resolution. If the Retina Display resolution is maintained, the iPhone 5 will have a pixel density that’s slightly lower than that of the iPhone 4 as the same number of pixels would be distributed across a 4-inch display, rather than a 3.5-inch display. For comparison, the HTC EVO 3D, which has a qHD 960 X 540 resolution, is distributed over a 4.3-inch display. Even if the Retina Display is maintained, the iPhone 5’s 4-inch display, as rumored in these leaked photographs, would give the device a higher pixel density than Android competitors.

Aesthetically, if true, the leaked photograph shows an iPhone device that resembles the look and design of the current-generation flagship iPhone 4 currently available through AT&T and Verizon Wireless in the U.S.

ZZzzzz…if this is the most we can expect from Apple then snoozeville. I think they will do better, especially considering they have started to go after the corporate Blackberry market.
