I would give it to my son, Dax, who is headed off to college this fall. He needs a thin and rugged laptop, and they don’t make them any better for college students than Lenovo Thinkpads.

Leave my monster-sized Alienware “beast” at home and cancel my trips to the chiropractor!  :-)

    Very simple.

It is the perfect combination of size and power for my wife, who is reviving her CPA practice and needs a laptop that can handle it.

I would not go to Best Buy to purchase the replacement computer I need to run my Mame machine. Instead, I would stop using my wife’s Mac Book, give my iPad to my three year old to watch BrainPop, and then I would rekindle my love affair with Windows. I would then use it in my middle school showing young minds how technology works.

I would use it for my client presentations, designing websites, and handling case matters in court

I’d use it in my real estate business as I go out with clients.  Would be something nice and light to carry around and pull up additional homes or details of homes we’re inside of.  It would allow me to serve my clients better AND help make the business more efficient (a boon for myself as well as my employees.)

I would replace my 4 year old X61T, which unfortunately is suffering from bubbles in the display.

I would use it as the main pillar in my “home based office”, which does not exist right now.

I would try my hand at mobile blogging. My current laptop is a T23. Though it runs Windows 7 I’m pretty sure it is past its prime.

I would use it for the mobile work I do. I have worked from air ports to ski slopes and while hiking, my current laptop Lenovo X200 is usually not very far away as I need excellent battery life and moderate horse power for light development work and system administration.

The ThinkPad X220 would replace a very low quality dying laptop and take its place for family use.

    01/10/2012 at 3:39 pm

I would take it to work and show management this laptop and tell them that they should stop buying those crappy Dell laptops and start buying Lenovo laptops instead.  The company I work for has over 70,000 employees.  Just bought a Lenovo laptop for my wife and we both love it.  Now I want one.  No more buying Dell laptops for me.  Would much rather have a laptop like this over a tablet.

My kids would get the old Shuttle computer to do their homework on while I would be on the new
ThinkPad X220 surfing the web! They get the Shuttle to do their work either way but now days I do my surfing on my eMac.

I would use it for the classes that I teach keeping records and filing reports that need to be filed.  It would also make a great personal computer watching DVD’s, completing my income tax returns and keeping up with my iTunes account.  The question is what wouldn’t I do with it!

will be used to develop WIN 8 Apps wp7 apps as i need a brand new system for these projects

I would use it to do my homework now, create networks later when I get my job, and when I have kids I will let this be their first computer. Everyone has to start somewhere so why not start on a good reliable device?

    01/10/2012 at 4:41 pm

To replace a crappy acer/gateway laptop from toshiba I bought from best buy less than six months ago and finally own a thinkpad notebook after flirting with so many other brands.

I would use it to help me help my non-profits I work with to make the world a better place!

  31. Henrywerch

    01/10/2012 at 5:42 pm

We are forming a new non-profit Aging in Place organization in our community, and we will need technology to keep up with and track of our members.

I have an older X-41 convertible which has been great. My real heart throb now is the tablet!… Thin, good screen for outdoors… Way to go Lenovo!

    01/10/2012 at 6:29 pm

I’m definitely in need of a long lasting light-yet-powerful laptop to bring to class and help to get this graduate degree.  It would be awesome to show those apple fanatics that there are better choices.  I absolutely love the matte screen and lenovo keyboard.

    01/10/2012 at 6:44 pm

This would be this would be a perfect upgrade/addition to my photography gear.  I volunteer my time as a photographer to several youth sports teams.  My weekends are spent running across the county from baseball, to basketball, to soccer, lacrosse and field hockey games.  I tough reliable laptop with long battery life would be very helpful.  I could use Lightroom to download and back up pictures as I drive from game to game.  I could connect my camera to the thinkpad, fire up Lightroom, start the download and start driving to the next game.  By the time I arrive, my pictures are downloaded to the thinkpad, duplicated to a portable external hard drive.  I pop the card back into my camera and I’m off to the to find my team.

    Please please pick me.

MediaCenter? Maybe, but definitely make it the new workhorse around the office.

  37. David Vega

    01/10/2012 at 7:38 pm

I would replace my aging HP tx2500 Win Tablet PC laptop which has no usable display (the infamous dead screen) and which I have to hook up to an external monitor. This one will free me of that problem and get me back in a more mobile productive mood. I definitely wouldn’t take it on a dirt bike road trip like in the video.

  38. Paul Brock

    01/10/2012 at 7:54 pm

I would use the X220 to finally strike out on my own and start my own business.  The power and reliability that Lenovo is known for would allow me to be more productive when on the road meeting with clients.

  39. Marion H.

    01/10/2012 at 8:05 pm

I work in IT for a non profit and on the first day the the job they handed me an mac book running lepord. The only thing I like to see with lepord on is my wife! I could really be so much with this powerful laptop.
P.s. My office knows so little about windows they didn’t even give me an office with one!

  40. Grant Wong

    01/10/2012 at 8:17 pm

As a programmer, I think this such portable, well-performed X220 would be a smart choice for me, especially when I travel on business. Besides the work, I also can enjoy the music and movies on it. Sounds fantastic!

  41. Rita A.

    01/10/2012 at 8:19 pm

I could be more mobile in productivity than my little netbook.

  42. Paul Soto

    01/10/2012 at 9:08 pm

I am a firm believer of Lenovo’s products. The X220 is an outstanding piece of engineering. I would use this as my main business machine and run the latest software with ease.

This would probably turn into my go to notebook. I’d love to use this for my mom’s home business.

  44. Richard Matley

    01/10/2012 at 9:51 pm

I would give the X220 to my wife for her craft blogging and digital card making.

  45. Rafi Kam

    01/10/2012 at 10:06 pm

I would use it to write code (and probably watch some videos) during the long train commute to my job in the city. When I took my old Thinkpad Z61m that one time, I couldn’t even open it without hitting the seat in front of me.

  46. ChrisRS

    01/10/2012 at 10:34 pm

I would give it to my high school sophomore daughter for schools work. (Older three kids in college have laptops already, but there may be some trading for a best fit!)

    01/10/2012 at 11:24 pm

I would replace my trusty but aging Lenovo Thinkpad X61t (my 4th Thinkpad). These are durable laptops that can withstand a lot of abuse and still keep going.

I got mugged and my laptop was stolen from me.  This X220 will replace that.  It’ll keep me in touch when I’m on the go and at home, store downloads, and surf the web.

  51. Byan23

    01/11/2012 at 3:25 am

As a longtime owner of tablets, from the Motion LE1600 to a a previous Lenovo tablet, (both of which I used til they died on me) I’d continue to use the X220 to work with my art projects and film work.  My LE1600 saved me during my graduate school years in taking notes, and I’m sure I’ll find some other new creative ways to continue using a Tablet PC in everyday life and work.

What would I do with a new ThinkPad X220? I’d solve world hunger and develop a cure for cancer. OK, so that probably won’t happen unless I’m abducted by aliens and directly injected with the knowledge needed to solve those problems. I would however, use my limited mental capacity to develop applications and web sites/apps which hopefully will make a difference in someones life.

  53. Helmut Krueger

    01/11/2012 at 5:22 am

The Lenovo X220 would replace my 7 year old HP Notebook PC. Which I would donate to a young family member.

I would replace my PCjr (maybe).  :-)

  56. HuntingdonBrewing

    01/11/2012 at 6:40 am

I would use the X220 to power the near-automated home brewing setup that I’m building.  I need something with enough battery life to remain running during an 8-hour brew cycle, monitoring mash temperatures, powering system boards to maintain both water level and target temperatures.   Relax, don’t worry, have a home brew!

Thinkpad X220, I’ve spent ten years dealing with nothing but death and am trying to bring my life back to where I want it to be as filmmaker/writer/artist/craftsperson/animaladvocate, what wouldn’t I do with a Laptop? Everything, blog, tweet, make short films, write….how much do you have to do to make up for a decades.

  58. Daniel Halsey

I would give it to my wife who works late at night in bed editing pictures and looking endlessly at facebook.   .  She would no longer wake me to complain about the computer locking up again and making me fix it.

  60. Sarah A

    01/11/2012 at 7:05 am

I would love some new technology thats portable.  Three days a week I go hang out with senior citizen who wont talk to me, the Thinkpad would be a great help in passing the time.

  89. Patrick Burke

    01/12/2012 at 9:40 pm

I would use the Thinkpad X220 for painting in Photoshop, Art Rage 3, and Corel Painter.  Ideally, I would have some of my favorite tunes playing while I paint.  When I’m not painting, I would use the Thinkpad X220 for watching movies and playing some of my favorite pc games.  I would definitely put it to good use and am excited to be considered for this opportunity.

I would use it to store test results, and all of important info regarding the Dr. who has nearly killed me with his uncaring, defeatist attitude. I now write down( and lose 1/2 the time ) in the ultimate battle I’ll ever have to fight,  ” I have stage 3 cancer ” and I’m trying to get all the proof I can that this Dr. is incompetent Please help me in this fight !!!

The ThinkPad X220, I would use plenty
With Twitter, I’d have a Titter,
After a bid on Ebay, the ‘Sellers’ I’d pay,
Facebook’s a blast, with People from the past
I’m up for blogging,  beats jogging
Skyping would be frequent, my frustrations I’d vent
Accounts would be done, giving more time for fun
Notes I could do, keep my calendar too
    Tunes I’d play,  every day
Keep an eye on my business, I must confess
To sum up, light to transport, negatives – nought
A brilliant device, sure to entice
Win it I must, it won’t gather dust
I’ll use it night and day, with the Thinkpad I” stay.

I would  try to trade it in to Lenovo for an x200T–or else simply replace my old 701C.

I would use the X220 as my continuously running scheduler, weather monitor, and number cruncher.

My current Gateway laptop is over 5 years old but I’ve had to duct-tape down the display bezel and lid hinge due to chemical corrosion (never put a chemical product that might leak in your laptop bag!), so a new Lenovo ThinkPad would be a life saver!! The X220 is an IDEAL portable 12-inch size that’s perfect for my writing/desktop publishing work and for daily web surfing. Plus, I could finally use a laptop outside of the house without having to hide it behind my laptop bag and also charge it every three hours… I’d be proud to show off the X220!

I would love to replace my aging HP Pavilion tx2500 tablet pc, which just got hit with the non-working display issue, and the only way to use it is to attach a vga monitor to it. This would really be a very nice replacement.

If I won a x220, I’d definitely use it for my photography classes this semester at college. My old laptop’s screen has suddenly stopped working.

I would use it to replace my T400, which is cracked from innumerable drops, sticky from thousands of coffee’s, and graphically failing due to my addiction to pushing the limits of what it is meant to do. That my friend, is why I need this laptop.

As my X61T recently decided to die on me, I am fighting with my wife’s R400 to get some of study done. With the ThinkPad X220, I would love to have it with me at school, showing off it’s zippy speed while multitasking: studying with onenote, word, evernote, and the internet written and audio/video resources.  I can do all this without having to worry about running out of juice because of the X220 7 hours long battery!  Would also love to do some video and photo editing with the unit while jokingly smirking at my wife since I won’t have to fight wither her R400 any more!

I already got my older son a ThinkPad for college but my younger son is still stuck with an old netbook so I’ll give it to him. For myself, I’ll wait for Lenovo’s Win8 tablets. My HP Slate will be getting old by then.

I would be able to finish school.  My eyes are not a good as they used to be and reading has become quite uncomfortable.  I had a ThinkPad that I bought used, but the hard drive went bad and Tiger Direct gave me my money back, but I was able to read my online books and I need another Think Pad type of convertible laptop.

I would give it to my husband. His aging Macbook’s fan is making a super loud irritating noise, while my ThinkPad SL410 is performing like a champ!

I’d upgrade from my current Lenovo ThinkPad z61t which I hope to donate to someone who can use it.

Also, I’d use it  work on my plans to build a trebuchet in my backyard.

This would be perfect. I’m in the process of downsizing everything I own in preparation for a move to Costa Rica this spring. I’m currently laptop-less. Bringing my desktop will probably not be an option due to space constraints where I will be staying (it’s a renovated shipping container turned studio, pretty nice actually, but very small). Money is tight right now, I was probably going to settle for a mediocre netbook to satiate my crippling internet addiction. But this is a GLORIOUS THINKPAD. If only I could be so lucky.

A better question is what wouldn’t I do with this amazing notebook? I currently have an aging Asus from when I first got in college and this would make a great replacement. The Asus is getting outdated: the specs are several years old and the thing only works when plugged in now… The feature that really makes the Lenovo X220 notebook stand out to me is the amazing battery life. I don’t live right next to campus, but with this I would be able to operate on campus all day! When you add to that the top notch specs, it just makes it that much sweeter! I would have no problem running any of my engineering software anymore, especially AutoCAD. Not to mention when I  was de-stressing and playing some video games with my buddies I would totally kick their butts with this! Well, it might not improve my skills, but one could hope, right? And at least I wouldn’t lag anymore. :) Oh, and the spill resistant keyboard is a big plus because my soon-to-be fiancé (if she could ever decide on the ring that is “the one”) is a bit of a klutz, and I wouldn’t want her shorting it out this baby right after we got married this summer! I’ve also recently got into Android development, and with this I would be able to learn and program more freely than my currently damaged gear. So yeah, you asked what I would do with it and there you have it! Thanks GBM and Lenovo for the chance to win such a great notebook!

I would give it to my wife who is having a difficult pregnancy and is on bed rest for the next three months – she would enjoy the ability to surf the web from the couch and bed AND be able to watch flash video of her favorite shows from bed when she can’t sleep in the middle of the night.
