Your New PC Needs These 20 Free Programs

Microsoft is improving on the video player that comes with new PCs, but it still needs work. That’s where one of the most useful, well-maintained free programs comes in. It’s called VLC Media Player.

VLC is available on any device. We’re talking iPhones and devices running Google’s Android operating system. It’s easy to use. Once installed, you right-click on the video you’d like to open and select “Play in VLC.” If it’s a playable file of any kind, VLC will let you watch it.

Your new PC already comes with Windows Media Player installed too, just in case you’d like to use it instead of a free program. Unfortunately, it can’t play DVDs. Windows Media Center isn’t in Windows 10 at all.
